We're keeping our fingers and toes crossed here, and being cautiously hopeful. Old characters or not, all my old stuff or not, I just want to be able to go 'home' again.

I have another question. Once we have City of Heroes again are we still going continue developing City of Titans and other "spiritual successors"? Are we still going to use Unreal Engine 4? Are we still going to play those games when the projects are done? Or we're playing back to back?

You really missed out on a great experience and hopefully you'll get the chance to try it next time around.

Hasn't been a better endgame system than incarnates in any game, nor one as rewarding. SWTOR was going to have a pretty good rewarding and fun raid system (at least from what they told us prior to launch). At launch it was pretty fun but they quickly went the route of stupid with each new raid. I haven't played it much since my guild fell apart though.

I have to disagree. I did not like the grindy nature of incarnate trials, nor the way they were rushed through. The wiki has essentially no information on the actual story line of the trials, but loads of strategy - because people rushed through them as fast as possible, in a mess of combat with no regard to what was actually going on.

I never really heard much about what was upcoming in i24 before the game got shut down--mainly because at the time, I was intensely trying to finish some studies... Is there a page that laid out all the details? Or was it just stuff that was here and there?

I'd hate to fight over names though, I wonder if it would be too hard to impliment what others like Cryptic currently uses, "hiding" your global name behind your character name so names aren't such a big issue, especially if we reduce the number of servers.

I've said before I vastly prefer that system, but I'm rethinking my position. It makes sense in a game like Star Trek Online, where there's a whole galaxy of "real" people to be. But for super heroes, the name is pretty integral to identity. I'm not sure.

Best of wishes, and one request: Hire Ironwolf as your permanent Official PR/Community Relations head. He's a name and face we know, trust, and respect. He's been patient with us when we've nearly lost our minds, and has been really good at rephrasing things when people are confused.


I'm pretty sure they can't afford him in that position (unless he's planning for a post-early-retirement second career).

Such a crying shame the game got cut down in 'full flight.'

From where I'm sitting, there's a shed load of features, powers (some of the 'unfinished' power sets tease...) and material that was going towards making a jam packed Issue 24 and 25 with the Moon Base tantalisingly close..!

I can see what you mean, but many times in comics there's been people with the same name, or even taking up someones former mantel. But logistically names has always been an issue, and when it comes to something this heavily themed it can cause conflicts, issues, and even resentment, I mean just look at how many in this thread alone has pointed out there where names they wanted to take a crack at they knew were taken, and it's like 2 years later (not counting how long they had originally been trying to get the name). Also it would REALLY help accommodate our possibly smaller community now scrunched down from 16 servers to whatever the new owners can afford to handle. I mostly agree with your point, but I am of the opinion that if this global tag thing is possible, it would be the easiest way to reduce issues.
Please don't send blind requests in games to me, I learned to ignore them in CoX, no offense meant. (this is only here until I can figure out how to put it in my actual profile on here.)

We had that earlier.  I'm still holding onto the don't spam NCSoft message.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Maybe, though I will say though, I wouldn't want CO's hideout system.  That thing was very, very weak, no freedom in it whatsoever.  It was just "Pick your hideout, ok, there you go, we won't let you pick or customize anything but that should suffice!"  "But CoX let me make rooms exactly to my-" "SCREW YOU IT COSTS TO MUCH MONEY TO DO THAT!".  "But CoX did it and it was released in 2003!".

I know, :).  Personally think, this is the speculation thing Iron Wolf started, is that if the game was ported to a new engine, say UE4, or a sequal would be made, we'd definently see alot of the sphaghetti code being reworked.  I was starting my own sg just days before the shutdown, go figure.  But I cannot describe my disappointment about bases for CO and DCUO.  The later was an extreme grind fest, the former was a no choice or options issue.  CoX was amazing in so many ways, so far ahead of its time.  I'd be happy just seeing it back in action to stand as a light int he darkness that is the MMOHTG problem.

Edit: I think i'll start saving up gunpowder in minecraft on my current world.

If they are scrunched down.

They might be tempted to reduce server numbers, or even go with a mega-server - but in such an alt friendly game, they'd need to add a lot more character slots - like 100+ per player, just to cover the numebr that were available pre-shutdown.

CoX was amazing in so many ways, so far ahead of its time.

I tend to look at it as being slightly behind the times - as in it was developed back in a period before WoW defined what all "real" MMOs should be like - there was more room for innovation back then, so much less pressure from players and publishers to make a "correct" MMO.
