|I'm pretty sure it will be more like ten thousand  (and counting) fans calling out in joy. :p

The initial call of joy would lead to word spreading very, very fast.  Thats the ripple effect he's refering to.  Expect alot of newbies trying the game out after it starts back up.  That is if the talks succeed.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

I wouldn't mind doing them, although I am aware they are ridiculously long.  Some changes had been made to CoX in it's later days to cut down the travel time significantly.  I actually remember the geysers and how fast you can cross the map with them and a fast flight+super speed combo or even flight + afterburner combo.

I did Doc Q near the end of the game's lifetime (my second time doing it, the time before that was in like probably 2007, painful) and it was still awful, even with staggered quick-travel powers across the team.  The other 3 weren't quite as bad but...still not a lot of payoff.  If you're a badger that was the biggest reason to do them because they didn't get run a lot so the badges were tough to get.

Yep...I did Dr Q for the badge.

....And just to say I did it.   When you hear how insanely long and taxing something is....a part of me wants to rise to that challenge.

I do not want to be pesimistic but I dont think the game is coming back by itself. Actions need to be taken for it to come back. I have no idea what or if something is going on. Until some hard facts or news is brought forward I dont think anything will happen.

Blegh, there'll be Hellion bodies all over Atlas that first day, I can guarantee it...
That's OK, they despawn get force-hospitaled fast enough. ;)

(Can't imagine the size and speed of the hospitals in Paragon and the Isles. Things must shoot injured people out like Quiverfull moms!)

It won't come back by itself. Action is underway. Something is going on. We're all waiting for news of current efforts. It may take a while. You have time to go back and read :)

A group has contacted NCSoft and IS in the process of negotiating to buy the game. Several things make it a slow process and the main one is the game will be carrying NCSofts logo on it even after it is purchased. They don't want their name on a product that is run in an inferior way.

A second issue is distance - NCSoft is based in South Korea and much of the group is US based. So language, customs and time zones make it a harder deal to make.

I have shared more information with a few here on the boards that could be helpful going forward but for the most part it is a quiet effort - you don't see it plastered all over the MMO sites because the last effort was really not helped by all the pressures of publicity. This is a business deal - plain and simple and the people involved have a team, believe they can run the game and have members who worked on the game in the past. If writing letters to NCSoft and blowing a horn and making noise would help I would be shouting from the rooftops who and what is happening.

It won't help right now. Once the game is secured by all means start screaming and jumping up and down. I have committed to setting up a fan based publicity fund and effort once it is going. Until then I really am sorry that more can't be said. Tony V and I believe about 6 others know what is happening and they have graciously remained quiet as well.

To quote a famous scripture:

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

One quick question the only worry of mine is I'm predominately a Mac user is there any chance they may put up a Mac client if they bring back the game?

Sorry if it's kind of a hey are we getting this or that question I wholeheartedly don't intend it to be.

There was already a Mac version in existence (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Mac_Special_Edition) and I don't see any reason it wouldn't still exist.
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

You can also run CoH through Windows emulators or virtual machines: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/City_of_Heroes_on_Mac . I guess the real question is whether the Mac Edition will be part of the sale, but I don't see any reason it wouldn't be. And even if it wasn't, the powers that be could use the same program / company to remake it.

Just a wild question but does anyone know the status of the server data? Our heroes saved on the server?

Because if a sale is made and the game is brought back to its condition before it was shut down, would be kind of awesome if we created accounts with the same user name and found all our heroes just waiting for us to continue like nothing happened.

Honestly, I was fine with the graphics the way it was and it wont matter to me if the engine is updated or not, as long as we can get back in ASAP.

To sum up what happened several dozen pages of posts ago: We don't know.

I'm just waiting anxiously for something affirming to be said, and I know that could take months(hopefully not a year or more).

Ok thanks. I haven't checked here for a while and the thread got so large I haven't read them all to catch up.

Though storage is cheap - would be nice if they hung on to everything just in case.

Real men (particularly stupid ones) did this on invincible with a team of lvl 40s - 13 and a half hours later and several levels higher we emerged.

This is the main reason I want to do it. I have one badger who had like 700+ badges? Not complete I know, but still I was working my way towards it,
