He was actually from Krypton.  All he had to do to fit in on Earth was to swap his first and last names.

OK, that is actually funny.

1000 is not a lot of people.

Its really not.  But two caveats do come to mind:

1) I check this thread every day, sometimes multiple times a day, and hadn't managed to get over to check out the other thread until yesterday.  If some news does pop up I'm sure it'll be repeated here, and at least here is some entertaining content to otherwise distract me from the waiting.

2) There are about 8-9 people within my gaming circle that rely upon me for CoH news, former players who will surely come back to the game who didn't pay much attention to the official forums when the game was still running, even less to interim forum discussions right now.  I suspect most CoHers are similar, there would be interest to return to the game but lingering on it until then isn't of interest to them.

On the old City of Heroes forums it was said that only 5% or so read the boards.

How many now the game is closed?

I can attest to that; I have about 7 people in my circle who are the same way.  They keep asking me what is happening and when to expect a return, but they themselves don't lurk like I do.  I, too, think that more people will be returning than any official count could display.

I think I could say with a fair amount of certainty that less than 1% still read the old City of Heroes forums.  ;)

I'd be more interested if these toy drones were going to hand-deliver copies of City of Heroes to everybody here :-3
Okay, now I'm having flashbacks to Neflix's "Drone to Home" parody of Amazon's proposed drone delivery service:

More than 5% read the forums it's just only about 5% or so logged into and posted on the forums.

1000 is not a lot of people.

Not only are the reasons people stated above likely to account for that, but the post linking it is sort of hidden in the middle of this thread. I know I personally don't check the forums in general all that often, so there's a good chance people are going to their existing notifications, checking the most recent posts in this and the Maks Comes Off thread and seeing that there's no ecstatic replies, and moving on.
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

I am the primary source of information for about a dozen or so former CoH players (some US, some international) who would likely come back if the game restarted. So I haunt these forums at least once a day. I'm 99% lurker, but I read stuff here all the time.

It'll be interesting to see how many people actually sub to a game that's been gone for a number years and will be in state of limbo.

If there's one thing City of Heroes players have done over the years, its surprised me.

However, in which direction they surprise me has been equally unpredictable.  Ironic for a bunch of people who don't believe in random numbers.

City of Heroes was a truly unique game, I still believe it was before it's time.

More than that, not even its creators were able to do it a second time, and no other MMO has matched it for sheer pick up n playability.  ALL the others are just grindfests...

CoX can be a grindfest, but it feels like there is a purpose for the grind. You grind for alts, to get to lvl up and to get the IOs to equip them (which isn't any different from other MMOs) You grind for prestige (which passively is grinding for alts) to make bases. This is something currently no other MMO has, complete freedom to make a base how you want it to look using premade blocks and honestly this was my main motivation for grinding.(Minecraft, Teraria, has a similar idea, but are they really MMO in the traditional sense?) An example right now I'm playing Secret World. Once I get to 10.5 what else is there to do besides PvP. Really there is no other reason to grind or play the game besides the PvP or until new content comes out.

duane

I have a small distribution list of 8 people interested in the game's return.  My immediate contacts  do not care for the blow-by-blow details and do not care to check the Titan forums.  They just want the game back.

I agree with the estimate 5% of people read the official forums. The old super-group I was in NEVER checked the boards for even basic information like downtimes, issues/features list in new issues, known bugs/issues being worked on or launch dates.  People would complain about being uninformed and not go to the source website.   Come on!! It's in writing go read it!!

Same for Paragonwiki.com which I could not share enough links to everyone new and old. People asked about missions or powers and I don't know-- there was too much to remember.  Yahoos kept saying they wanted to start their own wiki and I would tell them don't reinvent the wheel, there's already a great one!

Came home early today because the weather turned crappy.  It's sleeting outside right now, and in all probability, I will not be at work tomorrow, the power will be out, and I'll be stuck at home twiddling my thumbs with no computer available.

THAT will be the day when COH reappears on the intardnet.... :(

To have the game back, I'd gladly spend an entire week without power and no computer.  That I'd call a bargain.  Matter of fact, I'd be thrilled even if I lost power for a week just as I was clicking the last button to start the tutorial after building my 1st toon.
