I'd been playing serious sam, duke nukem 3d occasionally, marathon occasionally.  Also played through shadow warrior 2013, which was also fun.  In all games you'll get killed at times(especially serious sam unless your on baby mode) to.  Well, was playing them since I quit bait and switch online(CO).  I am also pondering when to finish spec ops: The line, haven't quite yet.

So far, Serious sam 3, don't expect to make it through without dying a few times on normal, unlike 90% of the modern games out there where death never happens on normal.  But in a way, I was happy and enjoyed it even when I had a hard time on a spot as the game isn't punishing, but rather you could learn from your mistakes and the game wasn't one of those "you can die at any time randomly" type of games.

Duke nukem 3d, well, only very occasionally as said, I do prefer to play it on the highest "fair" difficulty(it's max difficulty cheats like doom's nightmare does).  Marathon....well while I could beat doom and doom 2 on ultra violence or duke nukem 3d on damn i'm good, I cannot get past some levels of marathon on total carnage.  Said levels in M1 through infinity are just, that, hard. Like one mistake and instantly dead hard :( .

Edit: Speaking of other games, Skyrim Redones author T3ndo released perkus maximus today, which is supposed to be a more streamlined, improved skyrim redone with improvements including easier to include other mods with it.  The mod focuses entirely on perks and combat, rather than overhauling everything, so you can include more mods of your choice with it.  Gonna install it today and try it out after reinstalling skyrim.
Running vanilla Skyrim Redone at the moment, but that sounds like like something i will check into. i just hope it doesn't mean restarting my current character.

Edit: It appears that it does, or that at least i'd have to do some editing to existing characters to get them to work properly with it, which is something i'm a bit loathe to do since i don't want to get that under the hood with Skyrim. (It's not you, it's me, Skyrim, so please don't be mad.)
So far so good. Onward and upward!

I've got some years left......unless my lottery tickets finally come up golden.

Ironically ever since the shut down I did put Revive City of Heroes on my list of things to do if I won......granted it's kind of in the middle of the list, as some other things would take priority.  :)

Yeah, I have a Lotto early retirement plan too, sadly it's not going that well. I also had the same dream of resurrecting CoH if I fell into enough money!

You can't win the Lotto if you don't play, but playing Lotto doesn't mean you're going to win. . .  *Sigh*
We're almost there!  ;D

The RNG hates me.

I'm playing the crap out of Firefall. I loves me some Firefall. And I generally hate third-person shooters. Especially since it's a shooter that means it has pretty much no story but it's so much fun running around in mini-mecha suits while shooting bugs and bandits and mutated people. And they've gotten pretty good with dynamic events (plus holiday events are somewhat varied and fun).

WoW is coming out with Warlords of Draenor and I'm super stoked. The origin of the orcs is probably my favorite story in all of Warcraft history, and Draenor is such a pretty place (even when it was blown up and called Outland, it was friggen beautiful).

You'd have to start an entirely new character with PerMa.  So far, i'm actually a bit skeptical.  I am playing a mage, and I am not seeing ANY improvements in my magic from the few perks I did take, it's getting annoying.  I have only gotten a short way though.  I do notice the npcs are following the vanilla rules in health, but retain the damage increase given to both that skyrim redone gave.  But combat is much more like vanilla, in that swinging a sword isn't depleting stamina and the like.

Overall, I like the direction but I ultimately feel like, "Wheres the improvement to my character?".  I also notice magic is also very generic in the sense that, while I read the documentation on upcoming spells, it feels like now earlier spells become useless again, which makes me wonder if there is a hard-cap to destruction magic potential and where is it at?  Thats what caused destruction to royally such in vanilla compared to melee/archery(both can achieve far higher numbers very easily than destruction with smithing/enchanting).  Then theres apparently no dual-enchantments for armor/clothing :(.

Go figure, i'll see where it goes.  Only an early level in the game afterall.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

I had the same experience.  It just wasn't what I wanted.

I remember reading about it, looking over character lists, and picking one, going "Her. That will be my Alter Ego who I will learn and memorize and trash all comers with."  Then I downloaded and logged in, and found that the character I wanted was one I either had to buy with real money, or win hundreds of matches with whatever random characters the game decided to let me use.

It was also a huge letdown, power-wise.  CoH had the most survivable characters I've ever played in an online game, while LoL characters, even "tanks", felt like tissue paper in comparison.  I kept dying and dying and dying, even against regular minions (and attempting to take on any opposing Champion was a guaranteed death for me), while my level fell further and further behind everyone else on the field and I never had enough money for the items I wanted or needed.

I stuck with it for weeks - even got enough points to unlock a low-tier character I could use so I wouldn't have to learn a new one every week - but I never really felt any improvement.  And between that and the abuse (I kept getting teamed with players who assumed I already knew where to go and what to do, so would bark out orders using insider terms I didn't understand, and then they'd curse at me in French when I didn't IMMEDAITELY follow their instructions), I decided to just forget the whole thing.

These days I'm mainly playing Pokemon and Fire Emblem: Awakening.

I tried it again last night with a few friends, and did what you did in unlocking a low tier character. I actually had a decent playing experience, though it could have been because I was with 3 other friends. I think the key to enjoying this game is to not play random rooms, and that's a shame, because for the most part I've only encountered angry individuals in rando-rooms.

I never had that problem in CoX. Literally, the best gaming community.

I've been playing Borderlands 2 and enjoying it very much. Lots of fun and the different characters are actually different. Thier signature powers are not just reskinned clones of each other. I haven't tried all the characters yet and I may not, but as long as I'm enjoying it, I'll keep playing. 68 hours in.

I tried to finally finish a Mass Effect 1... no luck.

I'm about to complete my second play through of Dragon Age 1, already planning my third.   After that I may ignore DA2 and jump into DA3.  It has a multiplayer function that looks interesting.

I just finished playing Borderlands through for about the 5th time. lol Started Borderlands 2 again. I don't know why Borderlands 2 got higher ratings that the first game. I preferred the first game.

I had more fun with the first Borderlands as well, though a friend traded me a weapon in 2 that was just too much fun to use. It was a caustic shotgun/sniper rifle. Worked like a shotgun, was classified as a shotgun, but it had a VERY long zoom and very tight shot grouping. Picked up Pre-Sequal and just not having much fun with that, though that could be because I chose to play as CL4P-TRP. As for what I am playing now, picked up the preorder bonus for Revan expansion and am working on leveling my last 6 alts on The Old Republic up to 55.

I've heard a few people say they liked the first over the second Borderlands. I tend to favor the second as I stalled on part one early on.

I actually really like having BL2 on my PS Vita. I wish I had s good super hero game on the go. The closest rpg ish action game to COH might be justice league heroes (marvel ultimate alliance is great but I hate controlling 4 at once).

I'm waiting on Dragon Age: Inquisition which comes out next week (on my birthday, no less). I really enjoyed the first one, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy this one too. It'll help keep me distracted until I can soar through the skies of Paragon again.

Probably because the game script was alot more quirky and funny. For me, Handsome Jack is probably one of the best villain made (a guy who first started off very Machiavelli for a noble goal, then went full on crazy) That reminds me, when CoX comes out I need to make a toon name "Butt Stallion"

I liked the story line in BL2 much better.  Of course BL1 barely even had a story line.

I much preferred the characters in BL1 though.  Mostly because I like playing a Sniper type

and Zero just doesn't stack up to Mordichi in that respect.

Haven't picked up BL3 yet.  I'll probably get it eventually, but I'll most likely wait until

it gets onto a Steam sale price.

This sums up my view pretty well. The only thing I really didn't like in the sequel was the timed missions. I really don't like those.

But I didn't like them in GTA either. Borderlands is essentially GTA except for the Sci-Fi background and the fact that you can only target the bad guys.

I think Handsome Jack is perhaps the most memorable villain in recent gaming. It's an aspect that is sorely missing from most games specifically (and sadly) in the RPG genre. I'm typically a bit surprised that more effort isn't put into that aspect of gaming because most of the great games are as defined by their villains as they are by their heroes.

I recently went back to try and play through the trilogy again.. couldnt take it.. I read somewhere that they were considering a re-release version of all three with updated graphics..  I would be interested if they released it with ALL the DLC they have ever made with it...

What stops me is, well, having finished mass effect 1 and 2, having lost those saves, and other games keeping me from taking the time to go through all of that again.  While I enjoy the games, i will say though, I didn't enjoy 2 as much as I enjoyed the first.  The first game you could easily play a charming asshole or an intimidating paragon and actually still have a very morally neutral character know?  But the second one, you really did have to go all paragon or all renegade with nothing in between, which I didn't like.

First mass effect even my renegade never crossed the moral lines, just did good things in a more rude manner, kind of like Gibbs from NCIS.

Are you starting the game with Nexus Mod Manager and did you make sure that SKSE/Skyrim Script Extender is installed and enabled? Without it a lot of the perk related features of the mod may not work. It's pretty much required to full functionality from SkyRe and PerMa although most non-perk features will work fine without it. (i ask this because i made the mistake of not installing SKSE in the mod manager initially when launching the game with it.)

I keep looking back here for news.  I really, really want to play some City.  Here's hoping we hear positive news soon.

I am, I also have java installed to.  It's just strange, like the damage remains at 30 for my firebolt and fire runes.  Even though I have both novice destruction which in perma should increase damage by 15% and ambitious methods which enhances damage to, and my spells damage is showing as the same.
