Thunder Glove

... how much I just want to play CoH again.  Tonight.  Right now.

Even after all this time, there is literally no other game I want to play.

MaidMercury

yezz.....even visited Livestream and felt like the good 'ol days of Paragon Coffee talks. :D
I may donate to this. I wish anyone luck trying to create something they believe in.

Thunder Glove

Oh, yeah, I definitely wish MWM the best of luck, and the same for VO.  Heck, I even wish GG the best of luck with HaV.  I can't wait to try all of them out, to see which one (and let me be honest, if any) will finally be the replacement for CoH that I'm looking for.

But knowing that there'll be a new game in a couple of years (assuming everything goes according to plan and there's no disasters or simple loss of interest) doesn't help me when I'm having a long sleepless night where I want to play CoH to help me wind down.

I understand.  This is exactly how I feel also.

Yup soon you might have three choices or playing three games of the sort at the same time. Hang in there the day is near...well closer than the end of the earth by being swallowed up by the sun.

They need funding to move out of Oranbega and into an office building.

All my heroes would donate!

But where would you even find an office building in the "maddening frigging labyrinth" style? I mean, they're so used to those caves by now; in the straight lines of an office building they'd probably get as hopelessly lost as I always did in their caves.

...... Actually yeah, that sounds fair. Let's see how they like it. In fact, if I could I'd install elevators that randomly teleport them into a janitor's closet. Just because. >:(

Soone enough though, life above ground would take its toll. After a few years they'd rename themselves Circle of Accountants and list themselves in the phone book. They'd have Tax Mages and Mortgage Mages, and Possessed Executives. Instead of Behemoth Overlords they'd summon Attorney Overlords. (Still demons, just with nicer suits. Tailored.) I pity the poor sap who has to teach the Hordelings how to make coffee.

Life moves on, I guess. Even ancient civilizations have to keep up with the times.

So very much this.

I pledged, I'll play. BUT I WANT CITY OF HEROES BACK.

There. I said it. I'm hopelessly bound to it, gods help me.

I'd pay to see that. I mean, the idea is hilarious and offers some very interesting possibilities - and not all of them comedy.
We were heroes. We were villains. At the end of the world we all fought as one. It's what we did that defines us.
The end occurred pretty much as we predicted: all servers redlining until midnight... and then no servers to go around.

Somewhere beyond time and space, if you look hard you might find a flash of silver trailing crimson: a lone lost Spartan on his way home.

Me and my friends feel the same. Nothing compairs. We might play H&V and CoT, but we don't "want" them. We want CoX back, that's where the fun and our hearts lie, everything else will be too different, is too different, or can't possibly be the same.

Please don't send blind requests in games to me, I learned to ignore them in CoX, no offense meant. (this is only here until I can figure out how to put it in my actual profile on here.)

When I saw the concept sketches of the city, It does have some similar vibe as CoX. But it's hard to conclude something right now and I'll be waiting for the finished product before I could truly decide. I wish MWM good luck!  :D

I know what you mean. One problem all of the planZ projects have to face is mistaking the communities enthusiasm for a successor as enthusiasm for the project. That is a trap too easy to fall into for some.

Don't get me wrong. It doesn't mean they won't be great games themselves by any means. I do mean though, if they aren't build with CoX as a base, and then built upon it then they won't likely hit that magic "note" and give the same feel. By this I mean stuff like, same sidekick/exemplar system, AE, a big world with nearly as many zones, all the same power sets (read as yes to water blast, but not every power and animation copied), inventory handled same, zones for open PVP (as much as I hated it), badges, well fleshed out AT's, amazing story arcs and ideas, as much customization in powers and costumes, and more as the foundation, and then more added or slightly tweaked to give that special original flavor then it will be hard to live up to the feelings, emotions, and over all experience CoX spent 8 years etching into our hearts and minds. At least that's how I see it. It doesn't mean I won't give these new games a try and neither does it mean that everyone else shouldn't give them a try too, but when i move into those future cities, I don't expect I'll be unpacking my boxes, if you know what I mean. Best of luck to MWM, H&V, and Valiance on however they are going forward on their projects.
