I recently moved to Denton, TX for school, and while exploring the city a bit I saw this:

Sigh...
Wait, wait, WAIT --  So, both Chuck Norris AND Blue Steel are in Texas?   Hmmm

Okay so, everybody remembers the Nintendo Entertainment System right?   ...Riiight?  ...grumblegrumblewhippersnappers...

NES?  You young whippersnappers with your fancy new videogames.  In my day, the Atari 2600 was good enough for us.  Or even the cassette-tape-driven Commodore 64.  And we slept in a cardboard box in the middle of the road, etc etc.  :)

I can't hear the Skate or Die voiceover, but I can hear "Blades of Steel!", if I stop and think about it for a moment.

As for true old-school consoles, we had an Intellivision. The one with the bizarre handset controllers that you'd slide an overlay onto telling you what the buttons did each game. I still remember Utopia, an ancestor of modern simulation games like Civ and SimCity.

Of course, Texas is home to all that is awesome! 8)  Besides I thought Chuck Norris was Blue Steel.

Or is Blue Steel Chuck Norris? I forget which way it goes.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one.  We sold both that and the Atari in the electronics department where I worked, and I remember asking customers a list of questions so I could determine which system would better suit them.  I always found the Intellivision controller awkward, though.

We live in Ireland.  The Fir Bolg and Tuatha Dé Danann are all part of Ireland's mythological history.  I'm constantly reminded of Croatoa.  In the Irish language, 'Fir' is the word for 'Men' so needless to say anytime we see 'Fir' on a men's restroom door, we are all reminded.

Also, every time we drive by an electrical substation, the whole family is on the lookout for Clockwork.

I remember very much enjoying Evangeline Walton's retelling of the Mabinogion (the paperbacks by Ballantine in the 1970s), hence the CoH version of the Tuatha De Danann always seemed odd to me;  I just accepted it as its own thing, rather than a CoH version of celtic mythology.  No wonder you're reminded of Croatoa!  LOL, re: the family being on the lookout for Clockwork!  I hope you find them only in-game.   :)
