I was driving along, and came across a license plate.

BNP....

And I said to myself "Banished Pantheon."  Thanks, Vidiot Maps! :)

Every now and then I see a truck go by from a company called 'Paragon shipping.'
As long as somebody keeps making up stories for it, the City isn't gone.

My computer keyboard.  Really, but not in the way you might think.  When I played, I was a power clicker, not a keyboarder except for movement and selecting targets.  I always played with my pinky on Tab, my left ring finger on W, my thumb at the space bar, and my index finger on F (Tab/Follow, doncha know).  My middle finger was poised to strafe, make directional changes, or drop while flying.

Now, every. single. time. that I'm at my keyboard, I find my left hand in that configuration, regardless of what I'm doing.  Like I'm all ready to do battle but then I start typing an email or participating in my college classes.

Not really odd, but always infuriating -- and it occurred before city of heroes even shut down:

The acronyms COH and COH2, which stand for....Company of Heroes.  I comes across it all the time and my heart skips a beat. /e facepalm

I do that to actually. It's my basic computer position.
I am the gun that rains judgement. I am the chill in the spine of evil doers. I am the flame that burns with justice. I am the teal angel that rises from death! I! AM! KAIT0!

There's a couple of things that remind me about CoH.

First, if you ever read the back of a "Log Cabin" syrup bottle (unsure if this is more of an East Coast product or if it is distributed countrywide...don't want to assume), you will find that it reads:

Pinnacle Distributors. "Pinnacle" happened to be the name of the server I called "home" and where I met my life long friends.  I know that particular server was considered much more quiet than Freedom/Virtue/Infinity servers, but as for the people I met there, especially near the end, even more people made me feel like I was part of a community.  I never did say this while I was in game, and for a long time it was difficult for me to post anything without getting teary eyed, so I'll say this now:  Thank you to all those who played on Pinnacle Server and made me feel like I was part of the family :-)

Second, every single time I hear the song "Good Time", I can't seem to get this video out of my head

We live in Ireland.  The Fir Bolg and Tuatha Dé Danann are all part of Ireland's mythological history.  I'm constantly reminded of Croatoa.  In the Irish language, 'Fir' is the word for 'Men' so needless to say anytime we see 'Fir' on a men's restroom door, we are all reminded.

Also, every time we drive by an electrical substation, the whole family is on the lookout for Clockwork.

I actually knew when that issue was released (Issue 5) that those groups were part of a "real" mythology; that is, they didn't just make them up for the game.  I remember thinking, "Wow, they're digging deep for this stuff now."  Also, Red Caps and the Unseelie Court existed before City of Heroes as part of fairy mythology.  And even Croatoa is a reference to the lost colony of Roanoke in that the only clue that was ever found to their disappearance was the word "Croatoan" etched into a tree.  (Although to be honest, I think this whole "Lost Colony" thing is just a fancy ghost story.  There was an island south of Roanoke named Croatoan that was inhabited by a Native Americans tribe of the same name, so what the word meant isn't THAT great a mystery.)

I sit down, left ring on A, middle on W, index on D, and thumb poised over space bar (Super Jumper here), right hand on mouse.

I would make a point of taking my toons through Croatoa.  I loved the mythology of the place and learned, through research, about the Tuatha and Fir Bolg.  I couldn't help but laugh at the idea of them being rabid looking reindeer and walking pumpkin plants respectively, but I really enjoyed the content.  Those red caps were nasty, though!  Playing a squishy as I tend to do made taking stealth necessary, at least until after I was done with the zone.  :)

I used a Nostromo n52 gamepad and for almost a year now, just for CoH...
have not activated it since the shut down....Been re-reading a paperback, "Freedom Phalanx"
to revisit the game...I noticed a few people here have written their own stories on Kindle format.

..I don't own one, however, I suppose there is some advantage to having one.

The music that is played while you wait in line for Space Mountain at Disney World reminds me of the music just outside of the St. Martial Hospital....not sure if it is exactly the same, but it's darn close  :o

Croatoa was my favorite zone, hands down, for almost every reason. Even now I load up Icon and visit.

I can not wait to go back in force. :D

I'm currently on the train from Edinburgh to Glasgow, and I just heard a passenger say, "I'm a Galaxy Girl." I think she was talking about the chocolate bar, but still it made me wistful.

Okay so, everybody remembers the Nintendo Entertainment System right?   ...Riiight?  ...grumblegrumblewhippersnappers...

ANYway, there was a game for the NES called Skate or Die 2, and its title screen had a voiceover where this guy would say "Skate... or... die.  Skate or die.  D-d-d-d-die." I played it enough that that voiceover stayed with me lo these many years.

When the Who Will Die arcs came out, I immediately attached that voice to them in my head. So every time I saw the words "Who Will Die?" I automatically replaced them with "Who... Will... Die?  Who Will Die?  D-d-d-d-die?"

Every now and again that just pops back into my head, with no rhyme or reason. I'll just look up from doing something and find myself mumbling it out of the blue.

"Who... Will... Die?  Who Will Die?  D-d-d-d-die?"
