City Of Heroes Play By Post Board (gaging interest)

Hello all, this is my first post.

So I'm in a mad need to get back to RPing in COH, however, given the game is down, I can't quite do that. However, I had a thought the other day: Why not return to my old haunt of Play By Post RP boards. I have an idea for the story: The world is dealing with the aftermath Sunset, a mysterious event that caused the mass disappearance of many of the worlds heroes and villains. With the high number of missing heroes, citizens of Paragon City began a return to normalcy, relishing the lack of big heroes and villains and relative peace that has fallen a city so used to the bizzare of playing host to so many capes. The Freedom Phalanx and Longbow, due to low interest from what remaining heroes the have, disbanded. The Midnight Society has been quiet, and hero groups left and right have shut their doors.

But crime and tragedy know no such vacation. Street Gangs are still fighting for power to control the city's Superdine distribution. Vanguard is monitoring a situation with unusual behavior from the Rikti and tracking down survivors of the Apocalypse in Praetoria. Meanwhile, Portal Corp has been unable to make contact with any alternate universes and with Lord Recluse among the "Sunset Missing" a power struggle for control of the Rogue Islands has developed between the remnants of Arachnos, the Council, and the 5th Column.

But it's not the end. Paragon is still full of good people and heroes still live. A new generation has taken up the crusade, to defend people from trouble, the city from crime, and the world from destruction. They are the new face of heroes. They are the Sunrise...

Good news, I'm working on putting together the forums. I've got the OOC section put up, and now I need to make IC forums.

Just a thought: Would people be interested in tying in level to IC post count, or just forgo a level system for just good clean fun of Role Playing?

Personally, I'd rather not worry about levels in a strict sense.

Yeah, so I've already gone and abandoned it.

So, an update. I've made the site and am populating it with forums. Paragon City has a forum for every zone and then some.

Rogue Isles has most of the main isles up and will need some subboards.

Tomorrow, I'm going to work on sections for "Other Locations" (i.e. Other places in the world.) and the Getting Started Guidelines (Rules, Plot, Character Sheet, ect.)

I'm also going to allow people to play Cannon Characters, however, I will be making a list of characters that won't be allowed (various reasons, the biggest being overpowered (Mot, Rularru) or they were a Dev's character (Positron, Manticore, ect. You wouldn't want other people stealing your characters right?)

I'm still pondering...

My old City favorites would almost all be off-limits by the board's rules (My winged Elysion "bird-things" were a non-canon species of Shard natives... Faathim's creations, so Rularuu more or less-), and I'm not sure how interesting it would be for anyone else to interact with Nemissary (my "semi-reformed" CoT-Death-Mage-turned-Dark-defender). That leaves me having to come up with something new whole-cloth, and I haven't really had the time this week to devote to that.

I think Nemissary would get along OK with my Villain main, and I'm going to get my Rogue up in a while, who would definitely get along. :D

I was saying that based on the semi-reformed part...My rogue was a hero from family of heroes who got co-opted by the family enemy...still mostly heroic, but absolutely eager to do whatever "My Lord" says....and think whatever "My Lord" says....Like, she goes running into taken-over office building, rescuing hostages.....finds out the main hostage stole a mystic tome from "My Lord" twenty years ago. renders him into a pile of hamburger. Walks out smiling, blithely stating that she couldn't save the main hostage.
