What's Left of the City of Heroes Merchandise?

SDarkshine

It's been a while since I last visited this forum...

Been busy between reality and recollecting what I have left of my fond memories of MMORPGS that I used to play - especially that of City of Heroes.  Nearly done cleaning up my pics.

But there is one thing that I wish I had done.  I have my digital possesions of this exemplary City, but I never finished my attempts to get a physical item.

I'm talking about the City of Heroes merchandise that have been sold via the EU NCSOFT website and those at gaming conventions.  The ones promoted by the Wentworths store at HeroCon.

What's going to happen to those?  Are there any left?  I'm guessing that they stopped producing them a while before our City has set down.

But, to be honest, I was really hoping to (and have been trying to) find some means of obtaining something.  In particular, the Projector Pens (I do not mind which one I can get - Hero or Villian, I just want one) and the Archetype Pins.

Is there any place out there that has them (other than eBay, I tried soo many times)?  Anyone that is willing to sell them?  Somebody or someplace that is willing to help me find them?

I do apologize if it is out of my place to ask this.  If it is, please let me know.  I just wanted to give this a chance.

Thank you all, anyway, for hearing me out.  Have a pleasant 2013, wherever you may be.

In all honesty, I think checking eBay's probably the best chance you have of finding any City of Heroes artifacts.

I've regularly scanned the listings over the last year, and it's still quite easy to get the boxed disc releases, strategy guides, Heroclix figures, comic books, and novels. I've also occasionally seen cards from the CCG, the CoH/CoV art book, comic book ad pages, Arachnos cape, Going Rogue mousepad, and a pair of the gold boxing gloves that Black Pebble showed off in the Ustream videos.

Two things I've never seen, however, are the projector pens or archetype pins, and I'd suggest you be cautious about any pins you do find to make sure they're authentic copyrighted versions rather than custom knockoffs. (Not that there's necessarily much collector value to them, mind you, but anyone can get pins made.)

Collecting things related to a specific intellectual property can be quite challenging and fun. (I had over 25 years experience doing it with Star Wars and Transformers.) City of Heroes presents an interesting scenario in that there's nothing new being made (so whatever's out there is all that there is) and there never really was a booming collector community for the stuff in the first place. These factors can make it difficult to locate specific items, but the joy when you do will be that much sweeter. (I kinda wish I'd given more attention to the items that were being sold in both the NA and EU NCsoft stores. Never did make it to any conventions, either.)

Good luck in your search.

At least for the moment, the AP33 tee shirt would be the final bit of CoX merchandise.

Blondeshell

That's true. While the AP33 stuff is technically not official, I think most people who were fans at the end will recognize and accept it.

In fact, I just ordered some things from here:

Wasn't there another proposed AP33 design? I seem to remember something with Atlas' globe being posted on the forums. Or maybe I'm crazy?

Also, I still really want the "Freem!" shirt. I somehow missed it at ComiCon, despite walking up to the NCSoft booth multiple times. Definitely a sad day when I saw that they were there and I had missed them  :gonk:
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

There are also fans of the game who make their own things, like this lady here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/rei2jewels

I've met her at CoH meet n' greet, and bought things from her, so she's legit. If the word of some random on the internet means anything, at least.

Layla made my Agge dolly. She's (my dolly and Layla, both!) super awesome. (That's a sketch by David Nakayama/Noble Savage next to the doll.)

Black Pebble also commissioned her to make a plushy of Matt Miller. Which I thought was funny.

Layla's plushies are very cool... She's done several of my crew (Kestrel & Cardinal, Palrah and Nemissary & his Unquiet Bride). There's also one of her little plushie rularuu Overseers here. He belongs to my chibi resin version of Kes.  ;D

I think I've seen some of the boxed sets sold on the Polish auction site Allegro.
We were heroes. We were villains. At the end of the world we all fought as one. It's what we did that defines us.
The end occurred pretty much as we predicted: all servers redlining until midnight... and then no servers to go around.

Somewhere beyond time and space, if you look hard you might find a flash of silver trailing crimson: a lone lost Spartan on his way home.
