io9 had this one which describes in a nutshell why I enjoyed CoH so much, it doesn't pigeon hole you into a single genre.

Just thought I'd share: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/entertainment/2013/06/why-are-we-obsessed-with-superheroes/

I like the Greek gods reference, very CoH-ish.

yeah good article.

I'm one that prefer super heroes to be written with some non-perfect human elements to them. One of the reasons I didnt care too much for the very very early superman lore. He just reminded me of that guy that was perfect knew he was perfect and had super powers. It's like, that kryptonite was written as a weak substitute to veil that perfection.

"Alright so he is allegic to a green rock. Oh wow, that made him suddenly interesting :p. How about something humans can relate to? He's nothing but an alien policing the planet that he is a refugee to with nothing but a green rock to stop him. Shall we start calling him God now?"

looks like a Marvel ad. :D

But yeah, content wise, in games with the customization feature like COX, you can make all type of heroes, from goths to mutants to power armor, with the back story to match with all types of genre pieces to go with it.
