Ahhh! Sorry I got distracted. Here goes. I corrected spelling and grammar, changed a part of your introduction from past tense to present tense, reordered maybe a couple of paragraphs to make your ideas easier to follow, and then I switched to past tense for impact regarding the shutdown. I didn't rewrite your message, because your message is perfect. I did add a few extra clarifying words. This is a very genuine plea for folded cranes. I hope some people here remember to give it one every day.
I did add one line of my own to the top, as an introduction--sorry! And please trust in my spelling, I do this for a living sometimes. Rouge might be a word, but it doesn't describe every rogue!
=====START BELOW=====
Please fold a crane for a city of heroes. Not just for me, but for a few hundred thousand people. Let me tell you about them.
Not that long ago, in April 2004, the world saw its first super-powered massively multiplayer online game, "City of Heroes", where anyone could create the superhero of their dreams and face off against certain evil.
Soon after, for those after their own personal gain, a "City of Villains" was born in the fictional Rogue Isles, where players could create their very own villains. And recently, the dimensional barrier was breached to add a brand new city, the city of Praetoria. Praetoria exists on a parallel Earth, a world in-between right and wrong, allowing players to create rogues and vigilantes and to turn their existing villains into heroes and vice versa.
The game has come a long way since 2004. City of Heroes contains many player cooperation zones and player-versus-player zones and arenas. And the story isn't lacking; the developers have created many of their own heroes and villains, and interactive stories to go along with each. City of Heroes is truly a work of art, both visually and audibly, and the game has only gotten better over the years, with graphical improvements and many content updates. Best of all, the developers always look to the fans for new ideas, for costume parts, powers, stories and more.
Over the years, the game has brought in so many players that it needs a long list of servers just to handle all of the log-in requests. Many players consider the game a second home, or a place to relax after a busy day. Owing to its diverse range of allowed playing styles, some people even use the game to encourage themselves to get healthier and fitter! The game has spawned friendships, love and more, and a player community that was dedicated to the game through years of monthly subscription fees (before it joined the growing free-to-play trend).
Sadly, the original developers sold the game to another company, and that company decided to shut down City of Heroes and close its developer studio, effective November 30, 2012. That company, NCSoft, is holding onto the rights to the game so that no one else can continue on with it. They expect to be paid around 80 million dollars for those rights by any other company who wishes to continue the game. There is, of course, no such company as of yet that is willing and able to pay such an extraordinarily large fee.
Both heroes and villains, and the other-worldly Praetorians, have all lost their cities, their isles, their worlds, their second homes.
And so, I make my wish: please bring our cities back! Buy the rights to the game, and open up the servers. You wont be disappointed--there is a fan base who will make you a profit.
