The Blue Ear -- A Hearing-Impaired Five-Year-Old and Marvel Comics

New York (CNN) -- Five-year-old Anthony Smith didn't think superheroes wore hearing aids, until he became one.

His mother, Christina D'Allesandro, says the epic journey began in May, when her superhero-fanatic son, who is deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other, refused to wear his blue hearing aid because "superheroes don't wear hearing aids" either.

Desperate, she decided to consult the experts. She found a general e-mail address on the Marvel Comics website and sent a message "into the ethers," asking if there were any hearing-impaired superheroes.

Me I got a Red and blue ear.  My Hearing aids are color coded right ear aid has a red tip and left aid has a blue tip.

When I got them I said I'm gone Cyborg!

It may be old, but it's still great (and, yeah, some things trickle through CNN slowly, lol).

Anyway, I believe this is the great attitude that I wish more people had (and actually followed through on):
"If I have the ability to draw, I am going to use it to help someone like Anthony feel comfortable about his hearing aid"

We all have so much power, with each of our very different skills and talents.

Yeesh, the CNN article conspicuously avoids dates. 

On the other hand, I always like seeing fluff stories on the front page, because it indicates the level of emergent disasters is low that day.  (The level of pre-existing, ongoing disasters is as high as ever, but those don't attract eyeballs as readily).

My son is deaf and hard of hearing and loved this when he first saw it. If there were a monthly comic I know he'd be all for it.
