Project Awakened: A spiritual successor?

So, this popped up on Kickstarter a couple days ago: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1312036782/project-awakened

It's described as a game where you can create practically any character you want, with any sort of abilities you want, in an immersive city that responds to your actions. I don't know about you guys, but that sounds kind of familiar (and the game was even called 'Hero' in an earlier development phase.) It looks really cool, though it remains to be seen if the character creator is actually on par with all of the options in CoH.
