Possible Lusca sightings

http://phys.org/news/2013-01-giant-squid-pacific-depths-japan.html

From the article:
Quote
The creature is thought to be the genesis of the Nordic legend of Kraken, a sea monster believed to have attacked ships in waters off Scandinavia over the last millennium.

Incidentally, the species lives not too far off the Japanese coast.

Hentacular!
When you insult someone by calling them a "pig" or a "dog" you aren't maligning pigs and dogs everywhere.  The same is true of any term used as an insult.

I'm all dressed up with nowhere to go
Walkin' with a dead man over my shoulder

Waiting for an invitation to arrive
Goin' to a party where no one's still alive

What I always find odd about the giant squid mythos is.. unless they were really REALLY common back in the day, the chances that people would have seen or caught them while out on the water is really slim. Which pretty much means, the only way anyone would have known they existed, is if they were attacking boats.

But for a squid to go after something that big, would take a lot of guts.
