If that's not Khan I'm going to scream.  Clearly he's trying to "take over the world," and the whole "I have returned" shtick... totally.  Khan.

If you're still here, not my problem, you were yelled at, so here I go:

Not Khan.  At least, not the one we know of from TOS...  Too caucasian, for one, and secondarily...

Notice the ship crashing into (what I assume is) San Francisco Bay.  Notice it's nacelles.  The shape of the pylons.  The sweep.  The connection to the main hull.  That is Enterprise E, but with a round saucer, not the oval one.

This ship is crashing after a bad slingshot to come back in time, similar to what happened to Kirk and company in the Bird of Prey in ST:TVH, or TOS:"Tomorrow is Yesterday".  This dude has come back in time, violently (hijacking a Federation Starship couldn't have been easy) and is going to do what Nero did, change the future history, only more divergent than what Nero managed to do with his plodding around.  All he did was destroy the Kelvin, and then Vulcan.  This dude is out to destroy the entirety of the Federation, looks like.

It IS NOT the current Enterprise 1701, because the nacelles are clearly different, and hers are narrowly spaced and do not have any sweep to them to speak of.  The earlier ship coming out of water ( :o ) is a red herring shot to throw people off the later crashing ship shot.

I say it's a Nemesis plot, pre-Mender Silos, but what do I know.

/The afore posted post is entierly conjecture and speculation and should not be taken as anything close to resembling truth.
//Except the Nemesis plot bit.  And the red herring shot bit.
///Boy, wouldn't it be scary if I was dead on accurate?
////Yay more time travel. :|

Well they have been saying all along that it is not Khan, but that trailer certainly seems to hint that it is or at the very least someone from the Eugenics era of ST lore.

Personally I'll be very disappointed if it is Khan.  They go to a lot of effort to make a clean break and set up a new continuity where anything could happen, and the first thing they want to do is revisit everyone favorite villain?  That would be weak in my opinion.  I want them to strike of in a new direction.  I'm not sure what the direction but lets see something new.  Perhaps a full on war with the Klingons and Romulans instead of the cold war peace of the original series.

Speculative spoiler ahead

I do recall hearing a rumor that it would be Gary Mitchell, which despite being counter to what I said above - would be interesting.

I find the Gary Mitchell theory hard to believe, because the first arc of the (canon) IDW comics dealt with that storyline already.

He could be Garth of Izar, it kinda jives.

But so far the strongest case is Khan.  I also heard speculation it could be Matt Decker, and he's bringing the Planet Killer to Earth for reasons unknown.

While I would LOVE to see Harry Mudd pop up again, he just isn't the kind of villain to try and take over the world.

Rule over one that just seemed to be there needing a ruler...yes. Conquer? no.

As long as somebody keeps making up stories for it, the City isn't gone.

Cumberbatch's name was revealed the other day.  It's a new name, unused before.

I feel it's a red herring and he could still be Khan.

KHAAAAAN

SPOCK: I love you. However, I hate you.
ALICE 210: But I'm identical in every way with Alice Twenty Seven.
SPOCK: Yes, of course. That is exactly why I hate you. Because you are identical.
*Alice 27 and 210 can't compute, and go kaput*
SPOCK: Fascinating.

New ST2 trailer came out today, haven't got a link for you, sorry.

But now I'm thinking Cumberbatch is allowed to be not-Khan because I suspect Peter Weller is-Khan.
