Musicians being competitive has nothing to do with the fact that music is not a competition. :) Musicians are competitive because human beings are competitive.

Point the First: the picture was about musicians. Without them, no music.

Point the Second: ever heard of a fugue? That would definitely constitute a competition for the attention of the listener within music. And within a single composition.
