Though I recovered from the sad by considering what a B&S dog would look like.  The sad was replaced by the horror... <I>the horror.</I>

No, it is a very, VERY common meme for something they really, really, really want.

I've seen it. And I like it. It just doesn't seem like something that will be attractive to Disney. Not at all familiar with the meme, though.

That's part of the joke, although it's not mean but impatient. Like the "I keep throwing money at the screen, but nothing is happening" meme, it's used to say "I want this, I want it now and I'm not just willing, but eager to spend money to get it." So, say, a fan with Mickey Mouse ears {maybe with the price tag still hanging to clarify it's not Disney itself} with a recolored shirt and jacket in Statesman colors with a caption "Shut up and take my influence" would show eagerness to support the idea of Disney/CoH combination?

Yeah, I haven't bought anything Disney-related that I can think of in quite some time, but if they re-opened CoH, I'd be going out of my way to find ways to throw them money.
