Storm NCSoft - League TF/SF

I am the contact, your mission is to fix the shutdown of City of heroes and villains by any means necessary. all levels welcome and no team restrictions, leagues are welcomed. I warn the AV's have security.

we are trying to negotiate with the enemy but if that fails, Storming thier base will become the only option. however it may not come to that yet.

it is apparent to me that NCSoft didn't actually give a shit about weather City of heroes could be successful, they just wrote it off as not marketable to Asia.

Well, I've been in china for a year and showed city of heroes to some people, they expressed concerns about the old looks and the fact it wasn't available in chinese/korean.

for a game like city of heroes these are two readily fixable problems, but NCSoft never took the time to let people know it was an issue, and when they saw it wasn't selling in china and korea they never asked why. nor did they care why.

To the former developers of CoH; even if NCSoft has shut down thier support of you, I suggest you continue work, but focus all your efforts on making the two problems fixed;

1: City of heroes in game and out of game text needs a chinese (mandarin) and korean translation
1a: City of heroes needs a chinese and a korean character set allowance in the chat. and needs to be open for input from a thirdparty chinese typing program called Sogou pinying. it is easy to be open to it's input all you have to have is an open text input block that supports chinese characters as opposed to just purely ASCii.

2: chinese people wouldn't touch the game because the graphics were poor compared to what they are used to; solution: Create a newly made Super Ultra Mode with posable faces and fingers etc. and make it the default graphics option for a Chinese and Korean installer. for all else it will just be an option if your computer is upto spec.

if these two things are rectified, and the servers are still live and enough advertisement to china and korea is made. then a sudden  huge boost in sales will be spotted, and NCSoft will most likely have a new found love for the game. if they don't then we result with the Storm NCSoft LeagueForce.

To players; your job is to help the developers with two main issues;

1: keeping the servers live; they need money to run the servers each month, donations to them would be great if we actually get this plan in order.

2: Translation; if you can translate portions of the game text into chinese or korean then do it! and post it somewhere.

3: Translators again, help make advertisement banners in chinese and korean with nice nifty pictures of some of COH/CoV's most impressive parts, exclude things like faces and hands if possible until the graphics adaptations are done in Super Ultra Mode.

Our goal is to get the interest of the massive hoards of people who weren't buying CoH/CoV and thus making it look bad on sales charts.

Spread this message if you agree with it.
There is always another way. But it might not work exactly like you may desire.

A wise old rabbit once told me "Never give-up!, Trust your instincts!" granted the advice at the time led me on a tripped-out voyage out of an asteroid belt, but hey it was more impressive than a bunch of rocks and space monkies.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but NCSoft canceled the development of City of Heroes V2 two years ago.  They were not interested in developing it then, and now that they have canceled the game they are certainly not interested in it now.

Paragon Studios and the devs are out of business.  Paragon Studios is closed.  The devs are laid off.  At the moment there is no one to do the developing.  Do you know someone with about 10 million dollars to buy the IP, buy servers to run it on, and rehire all of Paragon Studios?  That is conservatively what it will take.

The servers belong to NCSoft.  Right now all they apparently want is to get them back.  Coming up with "money to run the servers" is not an option when neither we nor anyone from Paragon Studios owns them.

This is not to say that the game cannot be saved, but your plan simply makes no sense given the situation.
I will go down with this ship.  I won't put my hands up in surrender.  There will be no white flag above my door.  I'm in love, and always will be.  Dido

V V said it very well, that is what I know in my heart too.

Joshex, I agree that CoH/V could do with an upgrade to make it fit for the future and if the information out there (http://unsubject.wordpress.com/2012/09/14/city-of-heroes-villains-there-was-no-cohv-2-0-because/) is correct, this is what Paragon Studios wanted to do but NCSOFT stopped any plans in this direction.

Right now, the only future for our CITY - at least as far as I can see - would be that either an investor or ideally a re-formed Paragon Studios purchase the game from NCSOFT. Once this has happened (yes, I am an optimist - sue me *g*), they will look how to keep the game fit for the future. And then ideas like the ones you brought up would be exactly what the doctor ordered ...

Let's hope we'll get to that stage!
