i just noticed one of the articles was updated

http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/09/06/city-of-heroes-fans-will-hold-a-protest-rally-at-atlas-park/

says in the update "[Update: Massively plans to be on hand to stream the event on our Twitch channel. Join us then!]"

so we might be having live coverage of this event

They've also adopted the hashtag! <squeee!>

Gunna go look for more!

(We are up against the DNC, tonight, tho.)
I wouldn't use the word "replace," but there's no word for "take over for you and make everything better almost immediately," so we just say "replace."

the mmo report does mention it very breifly but it is technically still on TV so its a little coverage, even though many tv providers dont even have G4 anymore because all they do is play 12 hour cops marathons lol

So, should we only add English sites to the list, or are all languages fair game?

Either way, these would be several Dutch ones.

http://games.fok.nl/nieuws/560725/1/1/100/city-of-heroes-en-paragon-studios-stoppen.html

If nothing else at least it's several more sites getting the word out, right?
I could also try to contact them and point out the petition/rescue efforts in the hope that they'll cover them in another article. :D

I couldn't update the spreadsheet - not sure if I could but here's a post I left in the Unofficial EU Player Meet thread:

Quote
I've been in touch with both the http://www.expressandstar.com/ and http://www.birminghammail.net/ to let them know the meet is happening and why.

I'm not sure what response we'll get but figured better to let them know ASAP.

here's a copy of the email I sent ot Birmingham Mail:

Quote
I've just been speaking wit your colleague Ben who asked me to send in an email:

This weekend players of the online MMO City of Heroes will be meeting in Birmingham at Global Gaming, http://www.globalgaming.co.uk/html/contact_us.html

City of Heroes has been around since 2004 and is one of the oldest, most respected MMORPGs out there but last week, the game's owners NCSoft announced it is to close at the end of November 2012.

We have organized a player meet for all the EU community and it's taking place this weekend at Global Gaming. This is the third such meet but this is especially important given the news about City of Heroes. The newsworthy aspect stretches beyond simple human interest however, since the global player community are mobilizing in an attempt to save the game and this is one of the first of the major events planned. In the wider global gaming community the closure of this title is big news - it's a shock to the industry and it would be a worthwhile story.

The meet's details are: Saturday 8th September - Sunday 9th September 2012 at the following address:

NetAdventure Cybercafe
68 - 70 Dalton St
Dale End
City Center
Birmingham,
B4 7LX

Holy rusty metal, Batman. They're coming in faster than I can thank them for. (grin) A problem I think we can live with...

This site could use a response, but comments seem broken for me - the captcha doesn't come up so you can submit. TonyV, it is already on your list, I am trying to work my way through and put a response on each and every one... but you're adding them fast than I can. (grin)

I just responded. The "captcha" isn't really a captcha; it's the little math problem that appears just above the comment box. At least that's what showed up for me.

I couldn't respond to that one (ttp://mmohuts.com/news/city-of-heroes-players-fight-to-save-their-home) but I'm not entirely sure it wasn't a glitch at my end. My browsers been a bit drunk all day.

I almost feel bad for that blogger:  http://justonemoreunlock.blogspot.ie/2012/09/the-reason-not-to-save-city-of-heroes.html

But not THAT bad.

Oh. Am I being dumb? I get what the highlighted entries on the media spreadsheet are for, but a couple have coloured boxes around them. Is that just because someone's clicked on them, or am I supposed to be paying them special attention?

Here's another writeup that I saw posted in one of the Facebook groups. Add it to the Google doc when time permits.

I'd say all languages are fair game. The more we can make it apparent that we are a global community, and not just a niche, the better.

its a good article, however one would think they would have spell/grammar checked some, noticed numerous typos in the article

still, its a great read and it tries to touch base with poeple who havent actually played the game

While I do like to present both sides to an argument and allow people to reach their own conclusions, I think I'll forgo posting that link on the Twitter feed.  I fear that the deluge of firebombing that would result would quite simply be inhumane.

Holy.  Crap.

I just...wow.  I read that and was completely disgusted.  His premise that it's old is absolutely absurd, and the 'let it die so that the sidekick can become the hero' is sickening.  There's a reason that Champions and DCOnline have been failures...because they aren't nearly as good as CoX.  Not even close.  It really seems that he just doesn't like the game.

As I said in my reply to that article...if it was losing money, had ghost town servers etc I'd understand.  But...it's profitable.  Not only profitable but REALLY profitable.  Not WoW profitable (that's a fluke) but unlike most mainstream MMOs it's MAKING MONEY.  This decision makes zero sense.  I swear NCSoft meant to can Aion and it got mistranslated into English from Korean...

the comments in that are already kind of reputing them lol, but it is a good idea to try to keep that article hushed for now

i do agree that there is always an opposing argument, but so far 1 bad article out of 50+ good articles is still in our favor
