My Letter to CEO NCsoft

This is the letter that I have written and will be mailed tomorrow morning via certified mail to NCsoft. I hope that all of the CoH members will follow suit. I realize that one voice can't be heard, but many voices can't be ignored. I used my Global name (Angelica Reign) in signing this letter so that I have some sort of significance.

Dear Sir,

I write this letter to you with a very heavy heart. I am severely disappointed with NCsoft Corporation.

I realize that I am but one voice here, however, my one voice speaks volumes when it comes to the subject at hand. The subject being your company's decision to end City of Heroes.
I truly do not think that you fully understand the impact your decision is having on the community that has been created through the venue you have offered us. We have found friendships, comrades even marriages because of the majestic world your team has not only imagined but brought to life.

There are many of us that continued to support your game even when we didn't necessarily feel that what you were doing was right. But we still stood by you, paying our monthly dues and buying all the extras to make our game the best it could possibly be.  Loyalty is what we gave you in return.

City of Heroes has withstood economic turmoil, programming plights, fluctuating membership and a gambit of other issues. So I implore you to re-evaluate this game. If need be, lessen the amount of servers, release less material during the year, re-instate the pay-to-play status, discontinue the free to play, re-negotiate with Cryptic/Perfect World for the engine for the game, do whatever it takes to keep it alive.  All of us who have come to love this game world would gladly continue to pay. I have never stopped and I own 3 accounts.

I realize that business decisions are made every day and that the business sense is usually "well they will get over it". But this is not your normal business decision.  This is a decision that is affecting many lives. Example: I do not have the best life in the world. When I come home from work, I can open up City of Heroes and join a boatload of my associates and for a little time, forget the real world issues.
I can be that super hero and save Paragon City, or fight the Hamidon, cot, or council and when I leave City to join the real world once again, I feel a little better knowing that I have had fun and released a bit of that tension. Surely even you can understand that.

As far as other games out there, yes, NC has other games and I have played them. They do not hold a candle to City. I have played WOW and it was a sad version of a game as far as I was concerned. I have played most all of the mmo's but in the end, I never leave City of Heroes for that is MY game.

Once again, I am sure that my voice is very small, but the voice of all the COH family isn't. Please reconsider your decision. It is never too late to correct a mistake, regardless of how huge it may be.
