Waterworks Question
« on: October 17, 2011, 03:44:21 PM »
Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong place but there didn't seem to be an obvious alternative. Please feel free to relocate if the need is felt.

I've got a couple of question regarding Waterworks, which looks like just the kind of tool that I need, because working out what rewards I need at any given Trial completion is turning out to be tricky.

Anyhow, the main question is how do I get this running in Linux, specifically Fedora. It's billed as being xplatform and being on Java it seems like it should but despite having the correct version of java installed, it's not happening for me. The reason for running it in Fedora is that I'm fortunate to have two machines, side by side and it'd be nice to run it on my spare machine while playing CoH.

Also does this connect to the game in any way or do we have to manually update it with existing Incarnate components and salvage?

Cheers

It doesn't currently have any way to connect to the game.

I'm not sure, based on your post, if your problem is that you don't know how to run it or if it isn't being properly executed, but if it's the former, this link may help. Otherwise, someone else may be better suited to answer that question.

Perfect thanks! That helps a lot.

A note for anyone else struggling to run it in Linux, don't extract the file, link to the jar file itself. That's where I was going wrong.

This ran fine when I was running XP, but 7 tries to open this with Notepad. How do I fix the file association, etc?

"Change the program used to open JAR files. In the file select window, go to the folder where the JRE is installed (should be c:/program files/java/ (...), mark "always open with", and select the javaw.exe file"

heh, I tried to follow your instructions only to find out that I don't think I even had a version of JRE installed. :-p

which is more amusing considering I have VS2010 Ultimate installed.  :-p
