Just something I'd like to see.  Glycerine correctly reads my character bio as:

A warrior who died not in battle, but from illness, this poor soul was denied entry into Valhalla.  Instead, he was damned to the coast of Niflheim, the land of the cursed dead - a place known as Náströnd, the "corpse shore".  Refusing to remain on Náströnd as food for the great dragon, Níðhöggr the Malice Striker, and with nowhere on Niflheim to flee to, he instead swam out to sea.  Already dead, he could not drown.  He swam the freezing seas for a thousand years and more, forgetting his name and all he once knew, until one day he was drawn to the world of the living and the shores of Paragon City.

But the character profile on the CIT site reads:

It's a minor thing, but hey, would be neat to see it fixed.

on 2008-12-10 i submitted a report that the CoHFaces' comments system didn't handle special characters all that well

Café was spelled Café ... tried to edit it, and it came out Caf?

but ... u know, with our Founders leaving, our programmers have been a bit swamped in work ...
and like u said, it's a minor thing, so it got put on the back burner

That's alright Shades, I'll handle it now... it's a simple fix.

I've changed all the pages on CIT to support unicode, giving us actual languages instead of horrible botches of said words.

I also had to update the bio db table to utf-8, so if you're still seeing odd characters, try reloading your tracker of choice and updating your info... let me know if you're still having issues.


I will expand this fix across to faces' comments table as well and I honestly believe these are the only places that need the lingual support.

Well, Steiner's taken a "Step 1".  Since nothing is ever as simple as it seems, I'm going to go ahead and clear this bio.  When you get a chance, can you sign on with Glyc/HS to re-send the bio?  I'm wondering if there isn't a deeper issue here.

Steiner and I did a bit of research, and this is a deeper issue.  I think I've got it pinned down, and hopefully should be hammered in the next day or so

Should be working now.  You'll need to pop on the characters with Glyc or HS running to fix them online, as it was an issue with the way the bios were sent to the DB.

This really was never "low" priority, however it was something that just kept coming back whenever anything was changed.  Or at least, that's how it seemed.  I for one am glad if this stays fixed for once :P.

Although this is in the CIT forums... I did mention that we'd be changing up Faces to respect Unicode as well...
