In DC Universe's Titans, Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) stabs a guy in the balls with a pair of garden shears. Unfortunately, the powers that be say I have to write more than that sentence about Titans, but I do truly think every aspect of this show—its tone, its aesthetic, its story, its themes—boil down to the image of Dick Grayson, the original Robin, Boy Wonder, charming vigilante do-gooder, plunging a gardening tool into another man's crotch.

I'm hoping this stuff will be blamed on Raven's darkness. But I suspect the plan is to dial him back. He's just starting in this really dark place, a place he doesn't want to be.

All put together, Titans lands just about as gracefully as The Flying Graysons.

Without knowing more about the series and Batman's relationship with Robin, you have to wonder why Batman doesn't come and apprehend Robin for being a psychopath.

That said, I will never know because I'll be giving this series a hard pass.

At this point, I think DC just needs to quit trying the live action thing for awhile. They hit it pretty good with the Nolan Batman films, Arrow, The Flash and Wonder Woman, but since then its anywhere between meh (BvS, JL) to dumpster fire (Titans, Suicide Squad). Even Disney decided to back off on Star Wars a bit after one movie that fractured the fanbase and another that barely moved the needle (not that it was bad, just poor release planning).

If you are going to make the terrible decision to watch this be sure to have your tv cliche bingo card handy. I ran it at 2.5x speed and it still seemed to last hours. It's like they had the production team divided into team boring and team stupid and set up a competition. They both won.

Too bad they made Sherilyn Fenn not be Raven's real mother. Could have had a crossover with Twin Peaks where the White Lodge turns out to be in Azarath and Bob was Trigon. Could hardly be any worse than this was.

Ep 2 was way better. Still lots of cliche but at least not painful. Not dreading ep 3 at least.

I still wish they weren't so violent and brutal, but I'm starting to like the characters. Had some tears with this one.

In case everyone stopped watching, this has gotten decidedly non-awful.

Yeah, while I still think Dick is way too dark, I'm just about loving this show. I'm enjoying it more than any Arrowverse show. I hope Donna sticks around. She dropped the statement that she still has her Wonder Girl suit, and I'm hoping that was a Chekhov's gun (want to see her in it).

I heard a rumour there will be a complete cast change by the end of season, and I'm not happy about that. Maybe it ends on a cliffhanger with this main group trapped by Trigon and the second-stringers (Hawk, Dove, Jason) need to help them next season. I could maybe live with that.

And Doom Patrol was great.

So the first episodes were terribly painful to get through.

It definitely suffers from the "GRIM DARK!" syndrome badly.

It has become okayish though, I don't hate myself when I watch it anymore like the first five episodes.
