As the title says, game crashes when hitting 'apply'.

Well, it WAS written long before 4K was a thing.  Just put it into windowed mode and stretch the screen out, it'll rescale automatically.

What is the exact screen resolution you are trying to select?

Though if it's a client issue there may not be anything I can do about it. I've patched graphics issues in the client before (mostly due to flaky OpenGL extension support in drivers), but if it's deep in the engine it may not be possible to work around.

Update: game now loads with 4k res, but all the interfaces don't line up with the cursor.

Did you try it in windowed mode? It's the simplest way to fix all resolution problems...
