Was reading the Wikipedia on the game - made me even sadder.

When I read all about the game, especially the section on each issue and what it added, it made me so sad thinking about all the work and time and development that was put into it, just be cast aside.

I started before issue 1 and honestly never paid much attention to many of the details of each new update.
After a while it just all blurred together. So reading each piece on what changes were made, what was added, tweaks, etc - I was like - "oh yeah, I remember that now."

Like all the 5th Column stuff, when PI first was opened, the Hollows, even Icon when it was a new addition.

It did mention some other MMO game company was trying or had tried to buy the property and keep it running but that never happened.

Playing this game for 8 years was a large part of my life and since Nov 2012 I have not gone one day without at thinking of this game at least once a day.

You're in very good company here.

A while back, someone linked an article about several discontinued MMOs that should be brought back.  In the piece about CoX the author said that the brilliance of the game was in its ability to really make you feel like you were a part of Paragon City.

We all miss it and we're hoping that NCSoft will bite the bullet and release the property.

I really don't get why they won't. They could make a good profit on it and its not like they are planning anything with it. (as far as we know)
So why should they care if someone else buys it and keeps it running. Like TV shows that get cancelled and picked up on another network.

Paragon Avenger

Here's the clue:

NCSoft shutting down City of Heroes/Villains.
Hilter attacking Poland
The guy that turned down the Beatles
The guy who told Elvis he couldn't sing

What are some of the biggest blundders of the past hundred years, Alex?

Not being on the negotiating team, I can only speculate but I assume it's one of two things.  Either they have a particular asking price in mind or they'd rather hold onto the property just in case they decide to use it for something later on down the road.

Personally, I don't care what their reasons are.  Since the shutdown I haven't seriously played a single MMORPG.  CoX did just about everything right for me and I've yet to find anything like it.  All I want is to have my digital home back.

I play both Champions and DC online, but neither for the amount of time I spent on COH.
In fact I think I haven't logged into DC for over a year and Champions I play maybe once every few months for like an hour or two.

COH I could spend 5 or 6 hours or more every day, 7 days a week.

Don't forget 20th Century Fox that let Lucas keep all the rights to Star Wars, including merchandizing because the studio thought it would never amount to anything and was not worth the money for them to buy the rights.
