One time when I was bored, I made an Energy/Energy Blaster with the sole purpose of knocking everyone back. So when I unlocked Power Push at Level 18, I fully spec'd it with Knockback recipes and enhancements and went into Atlas Park. I then found as many lowbies as I could and would use Power Push and send them flying across the map. Sadly I have no video since I didn't have FRAPS at the time :( :(

Yes! although I think bAss was a dude. I was constantly stealing costume piece ideas from the epic costume thread on the official forums.

I believe I originally made the costume for the fire/time just by meandering with all of the pieces, until I accidentally found that the black/blue elemental skin went really well with gold/white armor.

Then I found out the arcane hood went really well with the roman armor for that color scheme, so it sort of escalated from there.

The last year or so of the game i was playing with AT bending concepts. I had a FF/Psi Defender that had monster ranged defense. While he was fun and could be a fill in tank when needed.

My Fire/Sonic corrupter was my favorite. Only had three sonic powers the first/last and the personal bubble. The build was a resistance build with as much defense as I could throw in. Sonic Bubble, Tough and Charged armor made up the core. Nearly capped S/L and roughly 55% energy.  Friends of mine with Brutes were going your tougher than I am we all go down and your still blasting away. Got recruited for speed ITF runs where they would take on the final boss fight and I would be sent to solo the 300 kills. My new team announcement was I am slightly squishy. i really meant I am SLIGHTLY squishy. Any team buff and it was like OMG. Granted it took till the upper levels to really come together with charged armor.

With that being so much fun decided to try a Brute like Dominator. He looked like a Lava rock monster and even fooled friends who should have known better. In chat one friend asked how are you making Domination appear over the foes heads. This was a Fire/Earth DOM with Hot feet and mud pots. Vulnerable to being mezzed but if things were going well i could pop a BF or domination when it came back up.

Waddle the Penguin.  See my other thread on this Community/Roleplaying forum, "A PENGUIN Story," for details and an image.  :)

I did this too with my first character, the magically-fueled MAGI-1 android. Happiest moment was coming back at level 50 and punting those Hellion punks that killed me at level 1 over City Hall.

Most unique characters... phew...

First that comes to mind was Longbow Assault. I always liked the Longbow as being the army that was on the good-guy's side for once, but I was always disappointed they didn't show up more around Paragon, especially at higher leveled areas (not including PvP). So one day I made one! I was a Blaster fan to the max, and did my best to recreate the costume pattern to the best I could, gave her Assault Rifle and Devices (though had it been open at the time I would have used Beam Rifle/Martial Combat) and set her loose!
She was a covert ops specialist, preparing areas with mines, caltrops and gun drones before luring enemies in by sniping their leader with a well placed shot. Despite that, she was also uncannily good at kicking down doors and lighting the area up with automatic fire, using her prototype rocket boots to keep her out of reach and mobile.
I had a ton of fun RPing as a Longbow operative, especially when dealing with the Vanguard or fighting in PvP.

However, most of the more unique heroes I encountered were made by my dad, particularly two of his favorites:
Surtyr, based on the King of Fire Giants in Norse mythology, with a Broadsword and Rgen (don't ask me why), was a towering red giant with coal-black face and hands, and eventually heavy armor.
Then, there was Jupiter's Eye, a Gravity/Storm Summoning Controller based on the idea of a gaseous being from Jupiter being accidentally captured and returned to Earth.

I tried making a HellBoy tribute.
Named him Heck Guy.
I read the descriptions of the origins, and mutant sounded more like him than magic.
And to get a pistol, not a temp power, I made him a blaster.
He actually wasn't completely horrible, but I had to be on my A game to play him.
Constant buffing/healing helped a lot, when I could get it.

A 'civilian' build huh?  Interesting that your thinking remained on melee archetypes which are max health enhanced.  The clear choice is to start with a Mastermind, or possibly a Stalker, to remove as much of the game's automatic enhancements as possible, and then proceed to find innocuous powers.  Actually my first thought would be to simply slot brawl and sprint and then just unslot any other powers you have to take.  But I assume we are talking a character theme that incorporates a full suite of 24 abilities.  So...

Again: mastermind, ignore all pets and just take the 4 combat powers (just a crazy man with a gun/bow/whatever).  Leadership pool is an obvious choice, damsels in distress get the blood of nearby heroes boiling, so that works.  The Medicine pool is another great choice for a non-combatant role.  Punch & Kick, but I'm not so inclined to give Tough & Weave a nod.  One other common pool... I'd pick the teleportation pool saying the character's one real talent is the ability to hack the medical teleportation system, but some powers from the Leaping or Speed pools would also prove irrelevant.  A few picks from your secondary and then focus on one Epic/Patron pool as your top end achievement.  With Leadership, Medicine, and Teleport as your backbone, you could easily become any team's Delivery Man!

I had three toons that were hard to level-up.  They never got invited to team, for some reason.

Scaredy-Cat Man - who would always run and hide whenever the team would get into a fight.  He got invited to teams, but got kicked often.

Captain Useless - for whom I picked the absolutely least useful powers possible.

Doorsit Boy - would get the occasional invite to a power-level team.  Ha!
