UNITY OF A THOUSAND WORLDS

Nearly three years ago, just as Emperor Marcus Cole of Praetoria fell to the might of heroes and villains alike, strange things began to happen. Not even the scheming Mender Silos or the so recently returned Dream Doctor could have predicted what transpired. This was due to the erratic nature of effects upon the populace. For some, nothing changed at all, but for others? Things began to rapidly change. Some hopped dimensions, and others slipped through time like it was nothing. Various other effects began to ripple across the very fabric of reality, and the source was unknown.

For nearly three years, several parties began to investigate. What had caused this ripple? Why was it so erratic? So many questions had spawned from those days, and yet none were answered. Not even Prometheus could figure out why it had happened, for it had happened to Incarnates and non-Incarnates alike. Such an event was unheard of for gods and mortals alike, and those few who dug deep suspected this was something sinister.

Yet, the strangeness did not end there. Many people have begun to return after this short passing of time. Some have a clue on what happened, others unsure. Murmurings of inability to access powers and more spread among small circles. There was no pinned cause to it, and the quieter of those investigating began to wonder if things would get worse. Such could not be allowed, and thus plans were put into motion.

DETAILS

The storyline called Unity of Thousand Worlds is inspired by the comic books of both Marvel and DC, and deals with exploring the idea of what happened after the game's shut down or happened because of it. Now, I understand that people don't all want to take it IC, but this is for those who do! Rather than force everyone to one thing, this allows everyone to keep their own interpretation (dimension crushed, etc) while giving it one source. I understand if people don't like this, but it's something I want to give a shot. You do not have to have an affected character to join on this as well.

The events will be diverse, that much I can say. There will be diverse things happening, such as puzzles one event and then a full blown boss battle the next. It's meant to not always be combat oriented, as there's more to what will be done than fighting the "villain" of this storyline. The kicker is that players can fight one another depending on choices, which can affect things down the storyline. While there are some things set in stone, most of it can/will be affected by the characters themselves. Some things can be revealed quicker/happen later than intended if something goes wrong.

Now, for combat and powers! Action success and failure will be determined by the /roll command, which is a d20. The threshold will be ten for all actions, and going above will be success to varying level. Below ten will dictate a failure, and criticals will be at 1 and 20 respectively. Now, powers? I am going to be TRUSTING people in how they treat this, because I do not want to hinder characters straight off the bat. That being said, there will be events where everyone is hindered and when it will need to be brain over brawn. Everyone will have a fair chance to shine, and my team of DMs & I will make sure that everything goes as this states.

The schedule right now is in the air until I know what the interest is. If there's enough from wide timezones, events can be run twice a day. Once for more morning-ish crowds and once for the evening sorts. I say this with it in mind that not everyone is American, and can't make it during the American-friendly times that the events will take. This post will be updated once I have gauged the interest.

Q&A
(Taken so far from the document. Feel free to ask more!)

  • When do these events take place? Current day? Flashbacks? Three years is a lot to cover and some characters may have still existed during that time.

The events will take place mostly in the current day. "Past" will be handled in an Ouroboros way. We're not going to be doing flashbacks in the typical fashion. There will be time travel because there's an element of time fuckery. The three year ish gap is covered through that, and through simple tellings. I'd rather not do typical flashbacks and screw with people's backgrounds more than this may already do.

  • With time travel being involved, would it be possible for investigators to meet up with people from the past for potential team ups?
Yes. There will be enough time fuckery that people of past and present will meet. Since there's some Ouroboros interaction, there's going to be specific characters popping up. I can't say who at this state but maybe some lesser named characters + storyline-specific characters. Tied to this, if anyone wants to portray past them during these events instead? I'd be chill with that.
