EDIT: This post is VERY out of date now and there are much better and more convenient ways.  Please refer to the following thread instead:

Have fun, chatters!

Hi fellow Paragon Chatters!

Not being happy with just flipping from one costume to the next during my evening, I decided the other day that I needed to get the costume change emotes working. This, I HAVE DONE! (sorta).    I've got the animations to play, BUT you have to do the actual costume changing part yourself. It's not perfect, but it works once you get the timing right! :)

Anyway.  Being a horrible swine that I am, I refuse to make thing TOO easy for people (even newbies. Sorry, time you learned something!), I'm not going to just give you the files to plug in.  Instead, I'm just going to give you what you need to know and tell you what to do. ;)  Almost all the work done, just not quite!

Okay, so. Time to start!  Note. This is for Windows only. If you're on a Mac, I can't help you.

1.  In Windows Explorer, open the folder at %APPDATA%\Paragon Chat\Config
2.  Open the file emote.cfg in a text editor of your choice.
3.  Go to the bottom of the file, ignore what's in there.
4.  Paste the following into it. EXACTLY as I've put. Don't go changin' nuffin!

Emote CCLightning
  Bits EMOTE CCCHANGE LIGHTNINGROD ONE
End

Emote CCNinjaLeap
  Bits EMOTE CCCHANGE NINJAJUMP
End

Emote CCSmokeBomb
  Bits EMOTE CCCHANGE SMOKEBOMB

End

Emote CCMurderOfCrows
Bits EMOTE CCCHANGE SKYSUMMON THREE ALTERNATE
End

5.  Save the file then close it.
6.  Start Paragon Chat. If you did it right, it will start with no errors.  If you FUBAR'd, it will error that emote.cfg is missing.  Go back and try again, doofus. ;)
7.  Load CoH and once you're in a zone, test one of the emotes.  (I recommend /e ccnuke :p)
8.  Work out how to time a costume change during the nice animation yourself!

I have also, out of the kindness of my cold black dead heart, written you folks a mnu file.  if you don't know where those go, go look in the Icon forum for help.

1.  Create the text file cos.mnu
2.  Open it and paste the following:

// POPMENU File for Paragon Chat Costume Changes
//

{
Menu "Costume Changes"

}

3. Save the file, then load it into CoH as you normally would.  For giggles, I stuck mine in the custom command window you'll find in another thread.

Have fun guys, and if you can't get it to work, read the instructions again! ;)

BTW: CCStoneBlock doesn't seem to actually work right, but I put it in there anyway.

BubbleWrap

The digging I did while experimenting with these gave stoneblock as:

Emote CCStoneBlock
Bits EMOTE CCCHANGE MAGIC GROUNDSUMMON ONE ALTERNATE
End

which seems to work fine.

Guess I was going wordblind by then... :p Good find! :)

Baron,

I have followed the initial section of your post, just not the mnu.  I got no error loading into PC.  However the emotes just emote. "...CCLightning"  They do not actually perform the emote action. Suggestions?

Thanks for your post and thoughts!

Todogut

FFM,

These costume change emotes enable my Shield Defense character to wield her shield during the animation:

Quote
Emote CCShieldBackflip
  Bits EMOTE CCCHANGE BACKFLIP SHIELD
End

Emote CCShieldSalute
Bits EMOTE SHIELD CCCHANGE SALUTE
End

Emote CCShieldInjectSerum
Bits EMOTE SHIELD CCCHANGE SERUM ONE
End

Emote CCShieldVillainLaugh
  Bits EMOTE SHIELD CCCHANGE VILLAINLAUGH
End

I copied them from wyldhunt's spreadsheet at the bottom. Maybe you can add them to your list?

Sadly, after the costume change emote ends, my character's shield disappears. If anyone can find an emote (or some other means) for her to carry her shield persistently, that would be great.

However, there were some other shield emotes that, while they do not produce an error message, they do not work in game. That is, when I enter the /e command in the chat window, nothing happens for the following shield emotes:

Quote
Emote CCShieldDrinkFormula
Bits EMOTE SHIELD CCCHANGE DRINK FORMULA ONE
End

Emote ShieldBackFlip
  Bits EMOTE SHIELD BACKFLIP
End

Emote ShieldFacepalm
  Bits EMOTE SHIELD FACEPALM
End

I don't know why these three emotes do not work. Maybe you or someone else can figure out a fix?

How are you triggering the emote?  In game, you need to do /e cclightning (or the other variations of starting emotes).. If it doesn't work, then check the emote.cfg emote name is spelled right.

Emote CCLightning
  Bits EMOTE CCCHANGE LIGHTNINGROD ONE
End

You must have ALL of it, exactly as above, and the game cannot be running, or Paragon Chat running, when you edit the file.

Alas, if they don't work, there's nothing I can do... Some of them are emotes that came in purchasable packs, so that likely has something to do with it.

Todogut

Somewhat of a side topic but interesting nonetheless, this emote works:

Quote
Emote ShieldKneel
  Bits REST SHIELD
End

What's interesting about it is, unlike the others, it does not require "EMOTE" in the "Bits" line. Perhaps it points the way for other MOVs that can work as emotes?

McCaffrey

Thanks FFM....I had not logged out of PC, just CoX.  Works like a charm now.  :)

Thank you, FFM. My coding skills go about as far as "Monkey see, monkey do" (which can get you surprisingly far in my business) and with your instructions I was able to get the costume change emotes working and happily nestled in the same macro window as the mapmove popmenu. Your share is greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks these are great! Much appreciated  ;D

Okay.  I'm an idiot.  I know this.

I have Windows 8.1 and there is no longer an APPDATA directory as far as I can tell, so where does all of this stuff go?  Would it be possible to set up the standard configuration file for Tequila to insure these emote and animation configuration files are automatically updated?

Or something?

Windows 8.1 has an appdata folder..  Just type %APPDATA% (including the % signs) into the address bar of a regular windows explorer window and it'll take you right to it.  It's a system folder so is hidden by default.

Blackgrue

These seem to have stopped working, at least I can't get them to in the current version of PC (1.02)

Strangely enough I seem to have an Appdata/local/paragonchat folder without a config folder, and an appdata/roaming/paragonchat folder with a config folder AND an appdata/roaming/paragon chat folder with a config folder. All of which I've tried fiddling with.
Virtue native

Main characters:
Diz the Goblin
Projekt Redstorm

Pengy

They work for me, as long as I have an emote.cfg with the emote I want to use in AppData\Roaming\ParagonChat\Config, that's ParagonChat with no space. You can get to the correct folder by clicking the folder button on the Paragon Chat screen.

DeathClutch

I honestly copied and pasted as said above. But when I tried to load paragon chat said I needed to fix emote folder or delete it. :gonk:

I'm running windows 10 not sure if that's the case.

crashpositron

Deathclutch, just load the QuickChat mod - it includes all the changes here.
You can find it at www.pchat.life - the 2nd item

Yeah. This is VERY out of date now...  It was written for the first releases of PC.

Sweet thanks ill try it in a bit thanks
