Not sure if this is the right area to post this question, sure it will be moved if required.

I'm trying to change my Avatar picture but keep getting the following message "The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved." Has anyone else come across this problem, if so how did you get around it?

Does the picture you want to use have to be a certain file as I have been trying Jpeg but having no look in changing my avatar picture :(

Try changing it to a png? I'm not 100% certain on file types allowed. Hmm.

Alternately, host it somewhere and link to it by URL.

That sounds like a server-side issue, I'll take a look into it.

EDIT: Found and (hopefully) fixed the problem, can you try again?

EDIT2: Pretty sure JPG is allowed. If it's too big, I think it'll just scale it down.

Sorry, I know this is a older post but I am very new to here. I am trying to upload my avatar and I am also getting an error saying cannot write. My avatar is less then 120x120. I have  tried both in PNG format and JPG format. Still the error. I have even tried someone else's avatar but that also failed.
I would link it but I don't see where I can put a link instead of an actual file.

PS. I am so happy I have found this Network. It is wonderful to be able to travel to all areas of COX again! Wow! I was there when COH first came out and now I am traveling back again to help/support this fantastic game is possible.

Thanks for letting us know! I made some permissions changes on the server and it should now let you upload. Can you try again to confirm that's its working for you now?
