Fire/Kin/Psi
« on: June 03, 2015, 04:36:44 PM »
So I was trying to convince a friend to do some theorycrafting, and in the future play the game. He's not fond of MMO's, but he does like to min-max, with a preference for ranged damage, so I figured a fire/kin would be perfect for him. Having some issues hitting soft caps, though. It's taking the support core embodiment to come close to those goals. Might be a thing with corruptors, though, had some similar results with my own. I decided to copy over the power and enhancement choices to a defender version, with slightly better defenses. Maybe I'm just bad with Mids :P Ah well, it's still fun, but I'm still going to post the build to see what others can do with it.

Before I really get into this are you married to fire breath, dominate and assault? I'd replace two of those with blaze and WoC if it were me. Assault is kind of gilding the lily on a kin, especially as you have musculature on top of fulcrum and siphon.

Also I never had a hybrid slot as I was well over the incarnate stuff when it came out. You had it turned on and it was skewing your defense numbers quite a bit, but never having used one I'm not sure if those numbers can be counted on or not.

Not really, no. Dominate I was mostly using for the set bonuses. My friend said he'd prefer to sacrifice defense for more damage, but I'd rather see him get as survivable as possible, because as you said, Fulcrum Shift and Siphon Power will raise his damage quite a bit. Not sure if he'd be close enough for Blaze and WoC to do much, though I see no reason not to use them for better set bonuses, if nothing else. The hybrid thing I was aware of, couldn't quite figure out how to reach soft cap without it. His stance was "damage at a distance", reasoning that if his enemies were too dead to hurt him, he could deal with lower defense. I understand that, but I'd rather give him some extra layers of survivability.

He will need to be in the scrum to capitalize on Fulcrum Shift, Transference, and Transfusion, all of which are melee oriented. If he wants "damage at a distance", look somewhere else than Kinetics. :(

Fulcrum Shift

Fulcrum shift drains the power of a targeted foe and all foes nearby, transferring it to all adjacent allies, the caster, and those near the caster. Affected foes will deal less damage, while your affected allies will deal more. The more foes that are affected, the more power your allies receive. Fulcrum Shift can dramatically turn the tide of a melee battle.

The way that's written, it seems like a targeted aoe on the enemies' side, and a pbaoe on the side of the buff.

You target one enemy and the 'attack' part is an AOE around that first enemy. The first enemy and every single enemy targeted by the AOE part grants a PBAOE buff, so you want to activate it in a bunched up mob. You also radiate a single application of the same buff. To get any real benefit, you need to be next to your targets (e.g. in melee range).

I see. The only thing I played was a Dark/Dark corr before the game shut down, so I'm looking forward to trying a few other things. Good thing there are people with actual experience :P

Yeah my thought was that WoC would be nice mainly for the set bonuses in the purples, but would also be marginally effective disabling minions while fulcrum shifting. Of course you have the sleep which is more effective on a kin as you can run through your whole bag of tricks relatively unmolested before attacking. My kin/sonic would always open with siren's song when soloing, fulcrum, siphon speed/power a boss, then start in on the attacks. I don't recall whether confuse (or more relevantly a missed/resisted confuse) will wake from sleep but if not that would only add to the hijinks.

Breath of fire is the same range as blaze, I always just preferred the latter. Sounds as if your friend might be coming from the holy trinity mindset of ranged dps must be only ranged and only dps or else ragekick? Hopefully the game will come back soon and that can be broken quickly.

So nobody know the answer to the hybrid slot question? I can softcap you to ranged easily enough without it but if you're wanting high melee and aoe too notsomuch.

The hybrid question being... what it does? The Support one is league-wide damage and defense buffing toggle, so those would be consistent while toggled on. Swapping out Dominate for WoC and six-slotting Coercive Persuasion allows me to soft-cap both ranged and aoe defenses with Support Core Embodiment. In fact, that makes AoE 51.3%, so I may have room to shuffle some more melee defense in there, though melee isn't isn't exactly a priority, what with all the ranged attacks and CC it has.

Yeah I was unclear as to whether that percentage in mids is consistent throughout the toggle. If so then hybrid was insanely OP even by incarnate power standards. Paragonwiki isn't terribly forthcoming. If you can count on those numbers though I'd imagine you could get softcapped to melee too. I'll try to fiddle around with the build later if no one beats me to it.

Hmm... Paragonwiki gives the Support Core Embodiment numbers as a 6% buff, and the Radial as 8%. However, Mids' is giving the Core 12%. I can only assume it's because the Core doubles the buff on pets, but I'm not sure why those numbers would be included, as you can't, as far as I know, see pet stats in Mids'.

Yeah 12% constant buff seemed fishy at best. I figured something had to be going on, either a suppression after an initial time or that full percentage only being applied on itrials or somesuch. That being the pet % would be odd, but definitely might be what's going on.

Here's the best I could do (couldn't dump the pvp 3% which always annoys me). Perma-hasten with one siphon speed, tactics to cover for not having accuracy enhancements in the siphons and fulcrum. Softcapped ranged without hybrid, more or less a small luck from softcapped to all with hybrid's 6%. Had to switch alpha to agility but that should be made up for by the time shaved off fulcrum. Oh and I forgot to switch the ragnarok damage for the proc before i copied it in here. Hope this helps.
