Well since there isn't a whole lot new going on I am going to slip in the topic of Item Pricing that was inspired by recent trips through the Q store.

What is the deal with the hugely inflated price of Merc gear in the Q store?

For 100k Q I can get Merc primary gear that at higher levels is < what I can get in the AE for 10ish G's, and, Merc gear itself generally sells for <40 G's. I won't pay more than 15 G's for it and only buy it for twink gear for below level 30something.

For 150k Q I can get Vig secondary gear that, besides gear with effects, is the best secondary gear in the game afaik. If I want to buy it in the AE, first I have to wait that it even shows up and then it is going to usually cost me > 600 G's.

Armadillo/etc at 11k Q seems better twink gear than Merc gear due to it is cheap plus I don't have to buy mods and the set bonuses make up for the small loss in defense.

Unless someone is just rolling around in Q with no idea how to spend it I have no idea why Merc gear in the Q store would be attractive to anyone at even half the price.

Character bound but then again the q price is rather cheap at only 11k questionite a piece.  Unless they did the incredibly stupid decision to increase the cost.

Merc gear is BoE so you won't be sharing it between toons. If you want Merc gear due to it is tradable then you're trading 100k Q for 40 G max. So being tradable doesn't really help Merc gear out.

Merc gear also lacks the built in bonuses that normal gear and heroic gear tend to have just like justice/legion gear.  But without the extra slots, making it very weak.

At lower levels modded gear isn't even available in the AE which is what makes Merc gear decent twink gear for lower - mid levels. Especially if f/x you already have it from opening lockboxes or can pick it up cheap in the AE. Maybe it happens to be a double XP weekend and you're flying through levels & wouldn't mind having your gear try and keep up.. Merc gear has its tiny niche.

There is better than merc gear in the form of account-bound +Exp gear that you can get from nemesis tokens or via veteran awards.  Scales with the wearer and you get 9% extra experience total for wearing it, thus getting you to level 40 sooner.

When you have a company that is out of touch with the overall gameplay+mechanics and whatnot I guess one shouldn't be surprised.  I agree it's total nonesense.  My guess, is they were afraid of making the gear good enough to be poor-man's heroic gear when they were implemented.  But they ended up implementing them the same way they handled legion gear, they lowered the stats but maybe had 4 slots originally.  But then maaybe some nerf-head among them or somewhere said "this is overpowered, nerf this so I don't have to work for it" and they did just that.

Either way, mercenary gear is pretty useless.  It's both weak and impractical :(.

Exactly, cryptic/pwe has no idea how to fix the mess they made out of co. when they started to listen to their "pets" saying do this I knew this was not going to end well. Over time when people started to post less then "yea cryptic" messages on what to fix, they were quickly dismissed by the few who think they could set up a forum cartel on the co boards. And they succeeded. Before I left that mess of a game, I too had some ideas on how to make a few more missions such as making the drop missions available to everyone. And this idea got swept under the rug as it were by the trolls.
I agree with the merc gear, I would also add if you are not rocking the purple "uber" gear it would not be worth getting such gear when it costs so much to get less.

Your not the only one who hates the "forum cartel" as you call them.  I call them forum cultists myself, but go figure, the same thing basically.  But your not alone nore am I.  Many people have a strong hatred of CO's forums who still play CO.  They hate them because they do understand who is responsible for ruining the game.  They know that every bad idea came from the forum trolls and they know how successful they've been.  I won't go into names, or anything, but you'd be surprised Angel.  And many of those people(the ones who know the reality of the game) would love to play CoX when it comes back.  Thing is this group of players on the forums(the forum cartel/cultists), they've killed our(CO) game.  And everyone who is smart knows it.

I am willing to bet some of those names are the same ones I am thinking of as well. I agree with everything you have said, there is also a lot of blame for cryptic as well. They could have brought co back from the brink just as they had with sto.

With due respect, I can handle a strait up no. Cryptic/Atarii/Pwe all had a chance to bring co back from the brink, they all have failed in doing it. When sto was faltering CBS threatened to pull the license if cryptic did not improve it. It took 6 months to make sto respectable.
Whereas, co was left to flounder time and time again, and when someone brought in a new idea the devs did not pay attention, instead the "forum cartel" ragged on people or in my case a year and a half ago flat out lied about what I posted. That is one of the many reasons why I stopped posting anything let alone anything that could have helped, such as making all dropped missions from loot a part of the quest line.

For what it's worth, I was the bored one and the ugliness began when this post started getting a moaning wail to it.

It doesn't matter if you are right or wrong in what you are saying. The forum is getting depressing since awhile. I'm just telling ppl straight up. It just hasn't been a fun place to hang out for awhile.

It's all good, guys. It's a public forum and majority rules. It's just that when I'm gone and Kaos disappears then you will be left with Brou's occasional comments/reposts and nothing else but complaints.

I'm not mad and I hope I didn't come off that way or make anyone here mad. I come here since I started playing due to 1) this is where I was when I discovered CO (on Titan that is) and 2.) I have a history with official forums in general and I prefer to stay here. I'm not married to the place tho. And I realize It's just as much everyone else's as it is mine. I post on forums these days for the fun of it. When it isn't fun anymore I just stop doing it I don't *tend* to get mad... hehe. I mean come on guys... We aren't curing cancer here we're playing with dollies.

So in conclusion I guess I would say, carry on however you want, it's a free country, it's a free forum, more power to you. But. Ya'all who just want to complain and especially those who just want to complain and don't even play the game anymore.. are depressing the sh.t out of me.
