OK so this isn't a reply to a CO trouble ticket, it's Fortuna, but it is PWE and made me smile so I thought I'd share.

QuoteHello,

Thank you for contacting us. This is an issue that occasionally affects some players. We are aware of it, and have forwarded it to the developers. Unfortunately, at this time we do not know when it will be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We appreciate your deep patience and boundless understanding.

Boundless Understanding.. Ahh yes, that's me alright. My patience also runs very deep. It's amazing he couldn't help me but could so easily identify my personality.

I think it actually shows a severe disconnect if they have to say that you have boundless patience and understanding, or assume that.  It's like they are over-compensating for a general level of contempt towards the people they are supposed to help.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

To me it's more like English isn't his mother language LOL  : D

Put, say..., an Indian accent to it, and read it again..

Even as a native speaker it can be tough speaking outside your region. When I lived in Austria I got a job as phone sales for some printing press add-on that I never had any idea what it really was and I was one of two people, the other was a Canadian girl, who made calls to the English speaking countries they do business with.

I can remember when getting the job how Elvis I felt. I was like "Now THIS is something I can kick butt at. I'm American. Pheer my Engrish bishes!"

I never said "huh and wha" so much in my life.. I had no idea what these people were saying and it felt like reaching Everest's summit just to get to the end of a conversation with most of them.

Even here in the States.. When I lived in North Carolina there was this caretaker dude that would come around sometimes, William, and I had NO idea what words were coming out of his mouth even though since he seemed like such a nice guy I really tried. When the landlord, who I understood perfectly, was with him he got William's every single word.

One of my Aunts by marriage is Louisianan and I could understand her well enough after a little practice but she has her own language too, boo. If you know what I mean, cher.

Anyway.. I totally wasn't offended. It reads like a language barrier thing to me. The game feels like it is lucky to even still be online and I just got 7 months of free VIP access so my boundless understanding kicked on my deep patience towards the lack of immediate support.

If he's a, say, Californian, which I doubt, then yeah he yanked my chain haha..

I used to work tech support and I can say that the biggest challenges were people of differing accents.  I had people on the phone who, while I know they were working in america, the accent was clearly from I'm guessing the middle east, it was extremely hard to understand them, especially when the phone lines were unclear, sometimes I even had to call them back to clear the line up(these were not customers but other employees).  They were nice people thankfully.  The funniest thing was the rudest individuals were often the ones with the clearest voices.  Heck, one time an actual customer somehow got me on the line.  The woman actually threatened to murder me.  Yeah, that was especially unpleasant.

England had some of the hardest to understand English speakers I talked to and was the first country I called when doing the Vienna thing. Totally blew the whole Elvis thing on the first call due to I thought they'd be the easiest. Scotland and Ireland were also challenging but I wouldn't say worse. Didn't help that there was a chain smoking French lady screaming at the top of her lungs across from me. People say French is the language of love but honestly, to me, it sounds like they have a half eaten sandwich in their mouth. The Austrian version of German on the other hand can be pretty sexah. Go figure. French girls and European girls in general do have a special hawtness. No denying that.

Never did have anyone threaten to kill me.. As far as I know! hehe. Man, your support must have really SUCKED. jk jk jk jk  : D

Did some tech work when I lived in Austria but German Windows was not easy for me. BIOS was in English just like it is here so at least there was that.

Remember it was me that was the tech support.  What happened was the customer got me, when the customer was never supposed to get someone like me.  I was providing support exclusively to those who the customer deals with, the agents serving them.  The customer was a typical "yell like a psychopath" type.  We rarely had that among the agents since odds are I am guessing they'd have gotten fired if they did that with us.

In fact, she threatened to kill me as the very first words she'd said.  She wanted blood I felt.  She wanted my last name, even, which was very telling.  She demanded it multiple times after she said "I'm gonna kill you if you don't help me".  Why the heck would I tell her that?

Go figure.
