Baldur's Gate joke that no one in the car got...

As we were sitting in the driveway at my wife's ex-husband's house, waiting for my stepson to come out so that we could head home from our holiday trip to the in-laws, I said, in my deepest voice, "You must gather your party before venturing forth."

My wife and son had no idea what I was talking about.
I wouldn't use the word "replace," but there's no word for "take over for you and make everything better almost immediately," so we just say "replace."

Rather witty comment, IMO, but have either played BG? If they haven't then I can understand why the joke passed them by. At least you didn't start shouting, "GO FOR THE EYES, BOO! GO FOR THE EYES! RAAAAAGH!"  :P

My wife is "gamer-adjacent," as her ex is also a gamer, so she's been exposed to it, and my son has been in the room and watched over my shoulder as I played it. I haven't actually set him up, yet, but I have two copies of both BGs, intending (along with MANY other games) to play it with him, so it's not like they would have no idea what I'm talking about.

I have gotten LOLs from other players in various games by using the "GO FOR THE EYES" quote in chat, but I would expect recognition, there.
