More music - The Ballad of TonyV

[Mr. Wentworth]

This came out of my head the other night and I sat down and recorded it to make it happy. Sometimes a tune won't leave you alone until you do something with it. It's a rough cut for sure, but you can get the idea. I'm a fan of folk music, especially the traditional story song type of thing. Listen and imagine an old timer sitting at an evening campfire while he tells the tale of a Paul Bunyan or John Henry type of hero. I hope the link works for you.

There was a Titan of a man from somewhere down South,
With a hero on his shirt and an eloquent mouth,
Standing up to the #MMOKiller for me and for you.

They said the sun was going down on Paragon City.
He said, "Hell no!", in a voice low and gritty,
"We are heroes. This is what we do."

"I know you're all discouraged, you've been punched in the gut,
Maybe shed a few tears, but I'll tell you what,
We're gonna do something the gaming world won't soon forget."

"We're gonna beat this trial. We can save the day.
Go load your inspiration tray.
You better believe this fight ain't over yet."

So, the heroes they rallied, they were thousands strong,
With petitions, and letters, and masks, and songs,
Holding torches for weeks in Atlas Park 33.

The news spread real fast of the grand, noble plan,
Of saving that city, of making a stand
For their right to continue. This wasn't about games or XP.

And some folks stepped forward to try and do right.
Made offers, negotiated all nice and polite.
But the #MMOKiller didn't listen, didn't try, didn't care.

So, the heroes regrouped, popped a rez and a buff,
They would keep up the fight til their foe had enough.
"This city is ours!", you could hear all the people declare.

Now, the hero rides off to the sunset they say,
But we'll sent the #MMOKiller that way
And if we don't see them again it'll be too soon.

'Cause battle Incarnates, the Rikti, and Cole.
We'll battle them all from Rhode Island to Seoul.
Yeah, we'll keep up the fight til they're singing a different tune.

Paragon won't ever come to an end.
It'll live on forever in you and me, friend.
'Cause I'll be a hero til I'm lying dead in my grave.

There are Titans out there, so don't be surprised
When a problem comes up and somebody replies
in that voice low and gritty, "I aim to misbehave..."

I'm hoping to make a better quality recording at some point. If someone does want to use it in a video, please let me know and I'll get to that sooner rather than later to get you a better copy. My good recording equipment is a couple of hours away.

This is by far one of the most awesome things I've ever heard.  You absolutely rock!  Er... folk!  It's definitely on my music player too (my Galaxy Nexus), and I've listened to it many, many times.
