didn't give any indication on the one i watched. but yeah was just kind of a mess of an episode altogether.

When you insult someone by calling them a "pig" or a "dog" you aren't maligning pigs and dogs everywhere.  The same is true of any term used as an insult.

The original timeline they didn't get taken to the future. 

Robin warned them about the destruction and they headed to the lighthouse.  On the way to the lighthouse Daisy bailed out (the video clip from the past) and the rest continued on.

Planet goes boom.

While in the lighthouse Robin told them the time machine was the solution.

Everybody (except Robin) died before the time machine was ever completed. 

Surface folks completed the time machine based on the notes and pulled them into the future.

Their removal from the past created the new timeline in which somehow the time machine still existed.  Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey.

I'd love it if the 50% rolls hit them hard and the rest of the season was just a bunch of red shirts trying to figure out what happened to the main cast.

That felt like it was missing a few scenes and also like they didn't know if it was a series or season wrap-up. Unfortunately it's the latter.
