I think you have been effectively pwned by all the posts subsequent to yours.

This is entirely off topic - but after reading the last couple of pages, it occurs to me that Arcana should attempt to teach on the college level as an adjunct. The explanation on particles was real to me - and the Looney Tunes tie-in would keep any college kids attention.

That will teach you to try and compliment someone and then defend your stance Ukaserex.  Hope you've learned lesson about having an opinion.

Also its 2016 so don't forget not only are you not allowed to have an opinion, but that opinion is also offensive.

This is downright wrong and rather offensive.

While not a teacher, professor or adjunct myself i have enough friends involved in academia and teaching that when i read that post i basically thought, "Oh myyyy, this is going to be good." i was not disappointed.

Always glad to be part of the party.  :D

I found nothing offensive about any of it.  I saw it as simply a healthy debate and learning experience for everyone.  Differences of opinion are just part of life.  It pains me greatly that there are people in the land of the free who would take away the right to have a difference of opinion.

As I sometimes have to remind some of my coworkers, "The price of getting to listen to the beautiful music of your opinion is you have to listen to the static of everyone who doesn't see your point of view."

I agree there was nothing offensive about it.  It kind of seemed to me like everyone was dogging on Ukaserex for wht was originally merely a compliment saying Arcana was not only extremely knowledgeable but also was capable of sharing the knowledge in an intriguing and exciting way.  Does being an adjucnt suck?  It sure sounds like it.  Like many jobs you are overworked, underpaid, and under appreciated.  Ukaserex seems to have a different experience and opinion of it then other's which was why he or she thought it would be a nice compliment to pay to Arcana.  I don't see how any of that warrants Ukaserex's opinion being offensive or even worthy of "being owned"

But to me it sounded like Ukaserex was of the opinion "Arcana should be an adjunct because she would be good at it" not so much "Arcana should be an adjunct because it's easy."  I don't mean to be a renob as the kid's say but I felt Ukaserex, someone who is usually rather polite and neutral, was being picked on for a compliment.  I apologize if its out of line.

I recanted my post almost immediately. If you see something I should apologize for I would be happy to take it under consideration. For now I will return to lurking.

Taceus, I actually took the comment I quoted from your prior post as a jest and not malicious in any way.  :)  In everyone's defense, it's very hard to tell the difference.  IMHO:  gamers, to me, are a rough and ready bunch.  Ready to go drinking together, get into fist fights with each other, and by morning back on the site as best friends looking out for each other.  Covering each other and saving each other from the perils of life.  :)

Now, we just need our city back so we can look out for each other.

Well, there were all those rumors about Arcana, so I'm unsure about how certain I would think I should be, regarding the universal applicability of your generalized statement.

The problem is, cupcake, he didn't state an opinion.  He stated something as facts, facts which were easily and quickly refuted.

Are you deliberately being obtuse?
This is an honest question since text does not always convey tone or nuance, so i can't tell if you're doing a Poe or not.
So far so good. Onward and upward!

...Also, the Copenhagen interpretation (in my opinion) doesn't say the cat is alive *and* dead.  It doesn't say the cat is *neither* alive nor dead.  It actually says there is no cat until you observe it, whereupon you will (with very high probability) either observe a live cat or a dead cat (as previously mentioned, with extremely low probability you might observe a detonating cat, although I suppose it will be technically dead).

Arcana...will you marry me?  :-D

Yeah, alright, you're a girl (I think?) and I'm a girl...but some things are more important than facts.  rofl

I was yes.

I was mostly just baffled that what was originally a compliment was quickly dissected about how what Ukaserex said was actually an insult in disguise.

To be fair I should have stayed out of it, but I felt Ukaserex was getting a lot of guff for what was originally a compliment, which didn't sit well with me

This is something I learned many, many years ago back on the old CoH forums. Also, something I learned a long time ago from much forum reading was "don't ever contradict Arcana on anything, whether it be math or having your own views, because not only will you be curb-stomped by Arcana's next eloquent post...but, you'll also be crucified by all of Arcana's supporters/admirers."

I've certainly had my fair share of arguments with CoH people in the past (not with Arcana thank goodness...haha)... Most of them involved whether human-form Warshading was viable or just as effective/good as tri-forming. However, these days, I've decided to relegate myself to just mostly reading and commenting here and there and leaving well enough alone. it's not really worth my time anymore.
"What COH did was to show [developers of other] MMOs what they could be like if they gave up on controlling everything in the game, and just made it something great to play."  - Johnny Joy Bringer

I never wanted to argue with AlienOne about the viability of Warshades in one form or another.  I simply found them too complex to play effectively.  Mostly because of the 'resource management' - I prefer self-contained characters.

As for arguing (effectively) with Arcana, that's easy to do!  You just have to know as much about her subjects as she does, but only a few people bothered to do the research.  I remember reading some amazingly articulate discussions between Arcana and some of the other serious Testers in the game.

Be Well!
