Wishful thinking, unfortunately.  There are corporations that are far superior wells of crazy than NCSoft without completely self-destructing.  Some, like Symantec, appear to be too stubborn to die.  Others, like Oracle, actually seem to make it work for them.

Yeah, I know. I looked up their net worth and it's a ridiculously high number. They'd have to do some major crashing and burning, and even so, they'd no doubt get gobbled up some other large company if they started to sink.

SyFy hasn't ever really had a difficult time with tv series, that does not count.  When it comes to movies, if it's good, they never made it.  But they also contract to numerous low budget people who just, don't know what they are doing.  So you end up seeing crap with low quality CGI and generally stupid plots flooding them, which of course hurts their rep.  They survive on their TV series, but their movies are their biggest enemies.

To be fair, "made for TV movie" is rarely a good thing on any network: SyFy channel's are just as much of a dumpster fire but to their credit they aren't art projects that are thrown away and set on fire, they are shiny new dumpsters explicitly loaded with charcoal briquettes.

If you discount TV movies that were directly connected to already established television shows (i.e. the Babylon-5 and Stargate movies) or spin offs of other television or movie properties, the slate is pretty slim on made for television scifi movies with good production value and not horrible acting.  In fact all the good ones I can think of aired as miniseries, like The Stand.  And that was over twenty years ago.

While searching my memory for scifi television projects the TekWar series starring Greg Evigan popped into my head.  That originally aired as four two-hour made for tv movies, so although they eventually turned it into a series I think that counts as tv movies.  Those were a guilty pleasure of mine back then, although I'm not sure if they objectively qualify as good scifi television.  I'm a Greg Evigan fan, so I'm biased there.

Because of diversity, NCSoft's total portfolio is nearly triple what it was when CoH was shutdown, if Nexon couldn't leverage a take over then no one else is likely too.

Dagon, was not made by syfy, due to a few reasons, one it is a good movie. Something syfy cannot do. Reason two, if I remember correctly syfy only makes movies such as magashark vs sharknado. These movies are not to be taken serious whereas Dagon is a serious movie.
Actually, it is a Lovecraft movie (Shadow over Innsmouth) just renamed.

I remember really enjoying Something is Out There. But again, (1) not SyFy, (2) miniseries, and (3) a long time ago.

My 'not good scifi' guilty pleasure is probably Season 1 of Andromeda, when it was 'Hercules in Space... but with some interesting ideas, a lot of potential, and Ronald D. Moore setting up some epic arcs for later'. Then they fired the one good thing they had going for them and turned it into just plain Hercules and Space. Only made it halfway through Season 2 before I gave up.

So, no CoH yet today as well. Not that it is unexpected, after all it's not like when the game returns it will just pop back into existence without warning lol, well at least those of us who frequent this place or have signed up for codewalker's wake me thread and check our email regularly wont be caught off guard when it happens.

besides that fact I'm sure the announcement will come before the game. they aren't just gonna be like "oh.. hey guys, you do realize the server has been up for a month now right? or did you not see our advertisement in [insert obscure place no one ever looks]?"

They will make a big deal about it when they are ready, it'll be all over facebook, there will be a major note on NCSoft's home page confirming the case, heck they may even send emails to former players informing them directly if they still have that info in their support center. There will be something on youtube, whether fan made or made by the THeM or NCSoft as sort-of a "Sunrise" video welcoming heroes back.

Then I will make teh poor quality falsh animayshun parody version and flame teh newgrounds and chans with it.

I didn't mean to imply they were all good, just that some of them were good.  Although I didn't think Thirdspace was Syfy bad, it was mostly not up to B5's (usually better) standards.

One thing about Thirdspace that I often wonder what people are thinking when they write it.  When the Thirdspace gate is activated the Thirdspace aliens immediately enter normal space and attack Babylon-5.  Were they waiting at the gate for thousands of years like someone waiting for an elevator that is shut down?  Don't they get bored?  If the Vorlons created two gates and opened them simultaneously would the aliens invade both gates, only one gate, or get confused and have to figure out what to do?
