I do recall in the early days of CoH, you couldn't walk a block in Atlas Park without seeing a fairly blatant Wolverine or Hulk clone. My favorite had to be a Hulk clone with a blue skin-tone called "The Incredible Sulk".

I am also reminded of one particular idiot, who, well after the Marvel suit, made a Vision clone AND had a bio that was a blatant rip-off of the Vision's original origin, who then got a case of the chapped buttocks when he was reported and generic'd.

I only ever had one character genericized on me, and I personally thought it was a bunch of bull-hockey.  The toon wasn't important enough to me to fight over it though.

I had made a guy in the giant oversized tophat and a tuxedo.  Named him "The Mad Hatter".  Honestly, I was thinking of Lewis Carroll at the time, not some stupid 3rd rate

Adam West Batman villain (which was the stated reason for his generic reset).  So I remade the toon as a female, put her in the giant tophat, full-leg fishnet and corset (she looked like

a magician's assistant - which was part of her origin background) and named her "Mad Hattie".  Nobody ever had an issue with her...

Hell the devs themselves were guilty of it - who didn't know Tony Kord was a blatant "homage" of Tony Starks?

That's the sad part of this - the majority of City players only wanted to have fun with characters they truly loved - whether their own or as an actual homage to those they had spent some part of their lives with - which probably wouldn't have annoyed their creators one little bit...
