im nearly 30 now, and soon I will be too old to play games and admit it. :-/

Sacrilege! Prepare the torches and the stake!!

Seriously, lots of people older than 30 were playing CoH, and would play it again, and have no problem admitting it. Heck, some of us were over 30 when the game came out.

I'm one of them over 30 people when the game came out, in fact, I have just a few more levels till I ding fifty. Then I can go Incarnate.  :P

I still talk to people about CoH, and how it's better than every other MMO that I've tried.

Please don't forget, we do have tangible progress being made-- by SCoRE.  Some of us do not really see the day coming where anything ultimately comes of the hopes and dreams of all of us and Team Hail Mary (although we appreciate their efforts), but we do follow the progress of and have faith in SCoRE.   :D

Is there some reason to think that even if score was to be able to put up a fully functional coh, that ncsoft would not hit them with a "cease and desist" letter immediately? not trying to be a party pooper, just curious. I was under the impression that the negotiations were the final attempt at this. If I am wrong it would make me very happy. not as happy as Nate telling us it is a success, but stl happy.

If licensing fails, if score fails, if all the successor projects fail, then we're left with Plan Omega, where we come up with a way to grant all the CoH players actual superpowers.  The really hard part is coming up with a way to create holographic signs that float over the heads of all the players.

That doesn't even begin to make sense.
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

I was freshly 21 when I started playing coh (in 2004).
I know people who were in their 60s playing and others who were married and had kids.
You're only too old to play if you think you are.

As far as that goes, I point to the WoW Emulators out there. Of course it's possible some will be hit with C&D's, but that's not the point. It's getting the code out there. Once it's out there and established, that's when the game is no longer in limbo. You can play at your will.

Also, look at the sordid history of SWG. That game was canned, then came back from the implementations others did. This is nothing new. Take a glance at http://www.swgemu.com/forums/content.php?r=173

Q. Is SWGEmu legal?

A. This question pops up about once per month on our forums, but the never changing answer is simply, yes. Understand, there is a fine line which SWGEmu has yet to cross. Since SWGEmu doesn't distribute any of Sony Online Entertainment's copyrighted material, it does not break any copyright laws. SWGEmu works very hard to stay within it's legal right to produce it's software, and will do it's best to never include copyrighted materials, or infringe on any software patents.

We need to consider how they can claim to have implemented all the server side resources they did and to not have infringed any copyrights. This implies they are either lying, they were deployed outside the US where they weren't infringing, or they are not infringing here.

You love the games you love. If you love them enough, know enough, and are brave enough they come back to life.

You're boring. :p

You're literally never too old to play games and admit it. There were folks in their 80s playing City alongside the 7 year old kids.

I was 42 when I started playing CoH, and it was my very first (and to date, the best) MMO I ever played!  Now, at 53 I await its return so I can go back to my regularly scheduled gaming activity level!

And BTW...I have no trouble telling people that I game, and I fly my love of Star Wars openly at home, and work!  The motif of my office decoration is totally Star Wars, in honor the upcoming movie!
What was no more, is now reborn!

I just hit 30 this year, and I am still a gamer.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

So question...

How many years will we wait patiently, before determining that City of Heroes will not be returning.

Zero.

Stop waiting.  Move on.  There are lots of other great games out there to play.  Nuclear Throne was just released out of Early Access after 2 years of continuous development.  As a roguelike, it's a very different game from City of Heroes and very difficult; maybe that's your thing, maybe it isn't, but it's an amazing indie game developed by an amazing indie studio (regular staff is two people) that has been awesomely supportive of the community that developed around the game.  Nuclear Throne is a shining example of Early Access done right.

(The preceding endorsement was made without any compensation from Vlambeer or even Yung Venuz the Gun God, I'm just a die-hard fan. :))

Seriously, if you just cling to CoH waiting desperately for it to come back, you'll be miserable regardless of the outcome (well, until/unless it comes back, I suppose).  There's a reason this is called Task Force Hail Mary.

I had an interview today at work for a full-time job.  I have been there part-time for a number of years.

I know I flubbed one question in particular.  I think I did pretty well on everything else.

I hope I am in the running for one of the two positions in question.  I should know something in about a week.

I wish I had City of Heroes to play right about now.

If my experience playing in Icon, and Paragon Chat are any indications, then my desire for CoH to return is an honest one.  As for how long I subject myself to the arduous process of waiting for it to happen...pretty much as long as it takes.

I am not one who feels crushed every time I come here and don't see an update.  I just feel the yearning to play again that keeps me coming back, and will until it happens, or word comes that it won't.  Of course I would prefer it be sooner than later, but there is nothing in my life being postponed, or delayed due to my desire to play CoH again.

I currently play another MMO, and have tried still others.  In my experience, there is still nothing out there that encompasses all the positive aspects of CoH game play.  Are they visually more attractive!  Sure.  But, I will take the blocky hands, and jaggy rounded surfaces in a world that I have fun in, versus those that look appealing, but are just not as fun.

As far as being to old to play games, I started playing video games when "Space Invaders" was new. I plan to still be a gamer when it's real.

NCsoft had their chance to unlimbo it at that point.

What HE said! :)

I've tried other MMO's and they all come up lacking in the fun department compared to CoH.

As to the shiny new graphics, that is no big deal. Doesn't matter how shiny the game is, if it ain't fun then it isn't worth playing.

When all seems lost in the effort to bring CoH back to life,
