First episode was fun. Filled with the top-notch acting and special effects we've come to expect from the series.

It hit lots of beats fans wanted. I just hope Sam (who only directs the pilot this season) didn't shoot his wad out of the gate. After seeing the opening my worries over the 30-minute runtime were killed off. No commercials and I think Bruce (awesome as he is) is better in short doses. We're getting as much actual film time as the trilogy combined in one season.

Note to fans of Evil Dead I or the remake: This is a hybrid of Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness in terms of tone.

I thought the best sequence was the mansion because we had nothing invested in those characters and still you felt a bit of OMG they have no idea what they're in for fear.
Rejolt Industries LLC is now a thing. Woo!

Great ending song.

Wonder why S-Mart became ValueStop...
When you insult someone by calling them a "pig" or a "dog" you aren't maligning pigs and dogs everywhere.  The same is true of any term used as an insult.

Ash left S-Mart because ValueStop offered better benefits?

Because they can't use anything from Army of Darkness.
I'm bad and that's good.
I'll never be good and that's not bad.
There's no one I'd rather be than me.

...unless I could be Batman, of course. Everybody wants to be Batman.

I actually enjoyed ep 2 more than the pilot, so hopefully raimi not directing the rest won't be an issue. the 'i was really starting to feel like a dick' line was classic.
