Latest patch is stupid, and not for reasons you'd think

The cooldown reduction nerf, the one everyone dreaded, is live.  But while it's certainly a damaging move, I think another is also in place, the Onslaughts.

The Onslaughts, guess where the NPC is?  WESTSIDE!  And guess where in westside?  Only a block away from Kodiak.  So now people are really abusing the Onslaught villains killing newbies and generally locking them down at the spawn point.

Don't we just love the CO devs?  It's like they are cutting the artery for their own game......isn't that GREAT!?

Oh yeah, the reward at the end of it is justice gear.  So it's wholly encouraged, since it's a long grind so people will likely stay in the newbie area while doing this since it's just, far faster.

Do note the sarcasm in my post.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Just a little disclosure...

Not only was LA caught having fun but you must have like a bigillion tokens.

Nah, just enjoying the sight of seeing people get destroyed.  It's the location, thats a problem.  Honestly it was getting boring fast, I wanted to see what playing a villain was like but the timer for the only one i'd ever get free expired :/.  So thats another problem; it's a sub or grinder only thing :S.

It's just badly placed, if not for that, I wouldn't care any more or less bout it.

Edit: If they fixed that one snag, it'd be a start.  Then the CDR nerf would be the worst part of the patch.

I was so bummed about the nerf I wasn't into doing anything with my broken toons so I hit up newbville with Giz. I became Grond with him and took out some Defenders until my timer ran out but that was it.

My 2 favorite builds that I put months of planning (each) into and are both ofc Justice geared - one of them is Vig geared too + both have nice toys (toss in another month or two invested), I have no plans to play them just for fun now. 20 second Fire Snakes with full cdr gear....? No thanks. They're both probly just going to be Daily farmers now and not daily.

Besides the nerf itself, pushing it out during not only the anniversary but at the same time Onslaught comes out...And then we don't even get a free retcon out of the deal.. At least when they did a major nerf on their 4th anniversary (I guess this is their idea of a party) they gave us retcons.

On the good side, my newbs are really great. (*whew*..).  It doesn't take me so long to come up with a new build like before, either.

I like playing Giz so much that, rational or not, I don't like playing him in Alurts which is the thing I used to do most in CO. Now I don't want to fuel the nerf fire... I normally am ~ 100% teamplay, mostly helping to fill alurt/rampage queues. So for me this was a stealth teamplay nerf.

When I Am in alurts for the XP buff or to finish that last bub for a level or to do a daily,, I hold back, too...lol  Used to be that my goal was to crush each Alurt as spectacularly as possible.

Dumb, I know, but this is what the nerf did for me. Made me not want to play my last two nicely geared toons and not play in teams for the first time since I started playing - whereas before the whole goal was the complete opposite - to build the best toon possible and then go show it off in teams.

I saw you bragging about your token total and an 'omg Alex is having fun' in Zone was how I knew what you were up to btw  hehe

Ahhh, the tokens, yeah I got a ton of them yesterday, I was surprised.  Basically if 5-6 people are in the area with onslaught villains the tokens drop more frequently, and even more-so if more come in to replace the old ones.  While a lot of dying immedietly after spawning happened, it was chaotic, which is fun to me.  Not fun for your typical mmorpg grinder, but fun for me.  It's why I liked games like UT99 and all that, the chaos, the unexpected know?  It did get boring though, after I got to near 5000 tokens.  Need 10000 for the devices, honestly I think 4000-5000 would be far more reasonable and I suspect the number should even be as low as 2000 since we all know what'll happen when the gimmick gets boring :/.
