There is always another way. But it might not work exactly like you may desire.

A wise old rabbit once told me "Never give-up!, Trust your instincts!" granted the advice at the time led me on a tripped-out voyage out of an asteroid belt, but hey it was more impressive than a bunch of rocks and space monkies.

You have to admit, that ending is one of the best ever broadcast on television.

I never saw the end. What happened!?

The rule of thumb here is probably; Spoilers of content 7-10 years old ( considered classic) or more conversed to people of an age deemed to have been old enough to view it or older is probably acceptable but you should always ask.

No. End of.

More than 3 months old =  no more spoiler protection.

As for your old games => remakes waffle. No.  If younger folks want to experience those old games, they can get an old system off ebay and play them, or use an emulator.  We want NEW stuff, not bloody remakes!

Normally, I would not post something like this, I would like to know what ya'll think. http://www.reddit.com/r/Cityofheroes/comments/36l22y/cox_private_servers/
I personally think this claim is rubbish.

Rubbish? What? But someone on the internet says it's true! And they say it's true even though they have no way of knowing! How could it be false??

Quote from: Actual quote from someone on RedditI don't have any way to get in but I'm 100% positive that this is true.

I've been playing Star Trek Online recently, and I've started going through the accolade list and trying to complete as many as possible.  A completely nonsensical expenditure of my limited playtime that I blame City of Heroes for.  One particular set of accolades are the "Lore" accolades that are grouped into sets by year, encompassing a set of 29 years leading up to the fictional year the game considered the present day as of the game's launch (2409).

FYI for anyone interested: the lore chips are from "The Path to 2409" which was a background story released on the STO website to explain the gap years between Nemesis and the game. I made a copy of it here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1B6ewnvQWdQZ-lPQwh3EXbvlRW9_WrCW9cmvqCn2aIQk
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

Speak for yourself.  I'm waiting for someone to make an Oculus Rift-enabled first-person remake of Pac-Man.

They used the SDK to program Oculus Rift+ Omni Treadmill to play Pokemon (I think it is Pokemon Gold). It was a trip to see

wow that actually looks cool! I wish I had a gaming rig like that. Then I could get exercise (something I hate), while playing games (something I love!).

I wonder what'd happen if he somehow spawned missingNo.

Edit: Yes, I am aware of what missingNo really is, and why it's bad.  Still, it'd be worth seeing FOR SCIENCE.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

The upper rig needs actuators and pneumatic decelerators.  So we can use it to superjump around.

Could be worse, it could be "Twitch Plays Pokemon" on that one route where it took forever to pass xD. That was just a Gif I pulled. The actual vid is on the Company's youtube page

5 percent happens?

Heh, yep and come to think of it, incarnate trials may have significantly helped with getting hit (due to higher % of getting hit- 7.5?)

You should have gotten hit a little bit more often in general, but still not a lot.  In fact, Incarnate trials were one of the areas that SR's extremely high defense debuff resistance made a huge difference (the ITF being the other place).  My MA/SR used to walk through trials like Lambda almost with impunity (granted, my MA/SR build was somewhat above average).

The higher hit chance in Incarnate trials was mostly due to the critters being level shifted upward.  Once you had your own set of level shifting incarnate powers that was significantly mitigated.  At +2, the floor was only 6% for minions (9% for bosses).

What I wouldn't give to Eagle's Claw an Iconian in the face just once while his heralds smack the sides of their weapons wondering why they can't hit me.

The only conceivable way a private server (which doesn't exist, sadly) to have old account data is if the players on it sign up under their old account name and secure their old character names and IF the server admins use any of the data from sentinel back up files to partially rebuild the characters.

Didn't Codewalker or someone like him, once tell us that to build a private server for any game, including CoX would take years and years, probably several at least? I could swear I read that out here somewhere once. That this was an incredibly complex undertaking, and also depended on how many people were working on the project. And that the CoX source code was like something out of the Hellraiser films...  :P

I do not believe one word of these Super Seekrit Server claims.

Remember those guys who were all over the place in-game, during the twilight of the game, hinting that they already had a secret server up and running, etc? Maybe that was just on Virtue.... "Yes we already have a server! Play now!" and suchlike. I thought then and still think now, that there should be a special place in Hell for those who prey on people's grief like that.

Yes, I'm sure that all these "secret private servers" would like to grant you an all access pass for just $199.99.  And then if you're sucker enough to actually pay that, oh, uh, yeah, the server's actually down right now, please try back again tomorrow and forward all customer complaints to solongsuckers@nowhere.com.

If you are reverse engineering a CoH server it would probably take several man-years of effort.  And also, its unlikely you'd do all of that and then keep it secret: the whole point of reverse engineering a CoH server would likely be to make it eventually available for people to play.  For a small group of people to spend that much time recreating City of Heroes for only themselves to play seems to me to be an enormous amount of effort for a private game.  For that much effort, you could build CoH2 and run it in your basement and have the game be exactly precisely what you want it to be.  But that seems pointless.

duane

The whole point of a private server seems ridiculous.  The game with is best served with a countless group of new people and large groups of people doing many different random things.

How boring would that be- static code with 12(?) of your closest friends doing the same thing forever.

PUGs  ;) CoH without PUGs.... Some good fun would be gone, had so many good times when I joined a PUG, it's how I met some of my friends, who are friends in RL now.
