Ok just a small topic probably will have a short discussion then the thread will return to normal.

Most media releases are either in the summer, fall or winter, summer is kinda like blockbuster season (does NCSoft consider CoX a blockbuster game?), fall is more like new /Afternoon/ content season, by that I mean games intended for players who are still in school, and finally winter is christmas and newyears 'this years big hit toy' season (both adults and children and in-between frequent this). then there's spring which is kinda like Novelty release season..

It is just a blatant guess with no more education that a simple thought about release seasons in a marketing context, but I'd think IF the CoX deal does go through, they'd be aiming for a winter release. Does anyone have any other thoughts?

There is always another way. But it might not work exactly like you may desire.

A wise old rabbit once told me "Never give-up!, Trust your instincts!" granted the advice at the time led me on a tripped-out voyage out of an asteroid belt, but hey it was more impressive than a bunch of rocks and space monkies.

My thoughts are that speculation like this is pointless.  We'll know when we know.

Joshex was right, that was a short discussion.

I would widen that to multiplayer video games in general. I remember hearing about an event about a year ago, don't remember all the details, but basically COD was patched and a sniper rifle was nerfed to take .1 seconds longer to fire/reload/something (I don't play COD). The amount of death threats the dev that made that call against him and his family was unreal, especially from people's public Twitter accounts.

There are a large number of people who see MMOs as competitive as something like COD or LOL, even people who don't play PVP, and having been someone who played a LOT in Mids builds for the last couple years of the game I will admit that I also had that desire to stand out and "be the best". That wasn't my only reason for playing the game, and often times my builds were not the optimal powerset combinations, but I would tweak the powers I did want to play to be as powerful as possible.

I have every reason to believe that if a deal goes through, the game would be released as soon as logistically feasible, and no reason to believe they would strategically delay release for any reason remotely like this.  I can see no good reason why anyone would think this would be a good idea.  You're re-releasing a vintage MMO primarily for its legacy fanbase.  You want to snag as many new players as possible, true, but if you're paying for licensing every single day you don't release is cash flow down the drain for an incredibly dubious purpose.

It might be that the best time to sell watermellon is in the summer, but if you happen to be in possession of watermellon in February its not even remorely a good idea to wait until then to try to sell them.  Once you have them, the clock is ticking.

Now you've done it. I wonder how many people are now going to make watermelon-themed characters on the first day.

That was not my thinking at all. My thinking was: "You can still sell February watermelon in the summer... as long as you call it compost."

I shall be the most feared super villain of all time, The Melonaniac! With my kinetic sidekick Speed Seed. (sounds kinda dirty when I think about it)

Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Nobody has brought out this option as the supreme nemesis for a watermelon-based enemy?

My Melonmaniac will certainly avoid this enemy at all costs.

But if they never say yes and they never say no but just keep procrastinating for yet another year?  What then?  As Geddy Lee sang,

This.
That.

Which reminds me of the first Tiny Terminator (a guild on the Realm Online) character that I made many years ago. This Toon. His Bio was "This Toon is not That Toon". I followed that up with Toon's Twin. I couldn't make That Toon because my brother made That Toon, with a bio that said "That Toon is not This Toon".

Grrrr used a stale Cheeto too.

I think I should probably go to bed soon. 17 hours is a  bit long to stay awake on only 4 hours of sleep.

Its impossible to say, except to say that this cannot go on indefinitely because it (almost certainly) involves money.  People can procrastinate indefinitely.  Money won't sit around forever.

Indeed. Just like people won't wait forever, either.  If there's no movement soon, more and more people are going to give up hope and move on to other things.
