My new computer (as in, help me build...)

So long story short, I want a new desktop computer, and I'd like a really good one.  I'm not too keen on pre-built systems like you'd get at Dell, HP, or wherever, I prefer building it so that I know every component that's in there.  I plan on using this one for around five years (my old one, with some incremental upgrades now and then, has lasted me around six), and I don't mind putting some decent high-end hardware in it to that end.  This will be my main development and gaming machine, and at any given time will probably be running 20 or so browser windows, probably a local copy of SQL Server, two or three Linux VM servers, and possibly something like Don't Starve, Civilization V, or the like.

What I'd like is advice.  Specifically, someone to look over what I've put together and, given comments here and there, to kind of "sanity check" what I'm planning on getting, making sure I'm not forgetting something that would make the system internally incompatible or otherwise wasting money.  So with no further ado...

Processor: Intel Core i7-5960X 3.0 GHz LGA 2011-V3 Boxed Processor ($899.99 at Microcenter)
This is the latest and greatest Intel processor, and the highest end one you can get.  Since I tend to replace everything whenever I replace the CPU, this sucker is going to have to last the distance until I get a new system in five or six years.  That's why I typically go all-out when I buy a CPU, getting as much bang as I can, even at the expense of a few more bucks.

Motherboard: ASRock X99 Professional ($325.99, -$40 rebate at Newegg)
This has really good reviews on Newegg, and it's got lots of upgrade room for 128 GB memory and a couple of M.2 slots for PCI SSDs.

Memory: Either G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 32 GB (4x8GB) or G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 32 GB (4x8GB) ($389.99/$399.99 at Newegg)
If I'm reading this right, the latter would be better because the CAS latency is 15 instead of 16 and the timings are very slightly lower.  In that case, I don't mind springing an extra $10.  I want the 8 GB modules so that later I can upgrade to 64 GB, and then a few years down the road maybe snag 16 GB modules (which don't exist yet) to upgrade to 128 GB.

Video: EVGA GTX 980 ACX ($564.99 at Microcenter)
Funny enough, I don't have many games that demand lots of video muscle.  Still, I want something that is fast enough to handle whatever I throw at it.  I have a dual-monitor setup, with one monitor at 3840x2160 resolution and the other at 1920x1200 resolution.  And a quick confession: I already own this card.  I bought it a couple of weeks ago to drive my new high-res monitor.

Hard Drive: Samsung XP941 PCI-E M.2 512 GB SSD ($449.99 on Newegg)
This will be my system (boot) drive, and will probably host some core apps.  The PCI-E interface should be stupid fast.  I'll also have one or two WD Black 4TB SATA III drives to store all of my media and documents.

Power Supply: Corsair AX1200i 1200W ($319.99 - $30 rebate at Microcenter)
I have had the WORST luck with power supplies, trying several brands such as Thermaltake, Cooler Master, some weird one with a mirror-like finish on the supply from a manufacturer I can't remember...  The one that I've had the longest is a Corsair, so I figure I'll stick with a brand that, at least for the past few years, has Just Worked™.  1200W should be enough power to run everything, plus a lot to spare for future upgrades.

CPU Cooling: Corsair H60 Liquid CPU Cooler ($79.99 - $10 rebate at Microcenter)
I have one of these puppies on my current processor, and it runs really quiet and has kept everything in nice, working order.  I don't see any reason not to go with another, although I will have to check to make sure it's compatible with my CPU/motherboard and choose a different model if not.

Case: Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced ($169.99 at Newegg)
I have a Cooler Master case today for my old computer and I've been pretty happy with it.  (Although I admit when I'm trying to move it out to work on it, it's heavy as hell...)

Gigabyte should be your motherboard of choice, but that's me.  Stable, reliable.  I've had *Intel* boars that have failed where the Gigabyte keeps on rockin'.  Not as tweakable, sure, but damn solid through the years.  Many many MANY of those boards I've used in hundreds of systems and they're still workin' years and years later.  That said, I don't have much experience on the longevity/stability of ASRock, so for all I know, they're just as fantastic.  Just I'd be gettin the Gigabyte obviously. :)

I've had troubles mixing and matching memory for upgrading, EVEN with the exact same manufacturer and part numbers.  A real crapshoot 50/50 on whether it'll work fine or not, never have really figured out the trick as to why some would be fine with it and others would bork systems.  These days I just get new memory period, because I just can't trust the old/new setups.  So... if you want the memory later, get it now, or junk it/trade it/sell it later.

Other than that, solid list I think.  Pretty much what I'd be lookin' at, or stuff similar, for my dream build.  Just lackin' a DVD/BluRay reader/writer, but I can see why you'd not as well.

I actually have a USB 3 Blu-ray burner that I use and move back and forth among my various machines. It's very handy.

They say even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent - so I will hush and encourage Father Xmas and/or Hyperstrike to chime in.

But - because I am verbose - my only thought screaming to get out is about the power supply. I can go along with the Corsair brand - but I think the power you're paying for -- well, it's just a lot more than you need, in my opinion. A lot more than you'll likely ever need.

Just my two cents

tony if you can hold off the newer skylake cpu are dropping end of summer. there going to to be about 20 percent faster then haswell right now and have newer chipset and sata and pci. newer pci 4.0 and usb 3.1 should be on these mb. in june amd dropping there r300 line of gpu. also in june nvidia and and amd wont tell people but there going to be jumping from 28mm gpu to 12/10mm and passing the 14mm that foundry's has issues with. going to see new gpu in both camps with respins of there gpu chips. nvida pascal is also dropping at the end of the year. just waiting for the foundries to tap out the newer chips.
if you need a cpu with muilt cores...then look to mb that can run the intel server chips. most times for the same money you can ge a slightly slower running chip that has 8-20 cores right now that run on the same mb has the gaming cpu you posted.
few tips also tony..look at the newer cases that have sound damping and or large fans. larger the fans the slower and lower noise they are. if your not going to use two gpu then look at the newer power supply now that have no fans in them for lower noise. also if you do have to buy a power supply with a fan look to see how the vendor controls the fan in the power supply. the good power supply they have the fan set to slow speeds and slowy speed up when needed. for gpu look at newer asus strix line. they card in pogo pc. they use a very over side heat sink to keep fan noise from the gpu down.
also on newer cases look at the drive layout and mb tray layout. some newer gaming cases have open spaces for long gpu and cable management. most newer mb now have 1-3 mb fan headers look to see if there three or 4 pins. you want mb with pwm 4 pin headers. they use one set of wires for signal control to keep the fan speed right. the three pin fans use voltage control. if your going to use more the 3 case fans you may need a fan controller. also look to see if you need a blueray burner to copy large files and or install dvd. lot people can use usb stick and stream. also look if your into audio a better audio card. asus and creative labs make  3 party sound cards. (mb sound chips most dont have head phone amps to help power newer high end headphones).
