So it's been a year since this effort started?!? That's really disappointing, because I couldn't keep my mouth shut after about May 2014. So now I look like a loon for jumping around while telling my kids "CoH is coming back! CoH is coming back!" So what? I look like a loon. I'll get over that.

May all the efforts continue to move and always toward the light at the end of the tunnel.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm still anxious about it. The waiting is the worst part for me. I still keep having dreams that City of Heroes is coming back. When Nate make the announcements saying "We bought City of Heroes" I already have my reaction video I like to share.

Making my costume was easy. I lack creativity so I just made all my toons look exactly the same with different colored over shirt. The name will always have some variation of Squints. Its good to be a minimalist sometimes :P

I guess it does reduce the decision making process a bit - there's already plenty to do with archetypes, power sets, power choices, slotting choices....
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

Ha funny thing is the most time I would spend when making a new toon is thinking of a name because of past run in with the name "Squints" being offensive. It was my nickname in the Navy hence why my main toon name is MM3 (Machinist Mate 3rd Class) Squints, but some people took offense to it and tried to get my name generic. Ex Libris actually grandfathered my name in so I can use different variations of Squints within my name. Some names still did get Generic (like Gold Farming Squints, Gold Farmer Squints, Alpha Q Up Squints, Commie Squints) while oddly other names were given a pass (Raging Asian Squints, SNAFU Squints) so I didn't know where to draw the line when making a name.

Softcap=45%.

45% is the soft cap for defense.

My work here is done.

Incidentally, its probably an error or a typo, but there were discussions on the forums about building to a "pseudo-soft cap" of about 35ish defense for builds that could not reasonably achieve the soft cap.  The idea was that with inspirations raining constantly, you could run at 35% most of the time and when you actually needed high defense one small luck (+12.5% defense) would in effect be an Elude-button.  32.5% is all you needed to be one luck away from the soft cap, not counting debuffs.

I did this with my SS/fire brute fire farmer, defence that softcapped v fire with a small purple and 90% resists was needed if you wanted to abuse the aggro cap and fight 3 groups of +4x8s at a time.

Personally, I just ate every single insp that dropped and combined anything that was duped into a luck. Max recharge build.

I couldn't rely on good inspiration drops as I never seemed to get what I really needed for any situation, and never got 3 of any when I needed, I had to combine ahead of time.  So I always tended to buy inspirations when possible to ensure I had what I needed, rather than being screwed by the random number god every stinkin time.

Right, it just feels that way.   Anyone else still tinkering with Mids and ICON? :)

Mids Yes.. Icon not really..

GamingGlen

Don't care much for Mids.  Icon I use quite often to make comic-book like stories.

swtor is a prime example of this..blatant wow copy without any of the improvements wow has made

Eh, for its flaws, I still like it better than WoW. SWTOR has one thing that's head and shoulders above WoW: A better story.

Let's not forget that, first and foremost, it's Star Wars!  That is primarily what has kept me playing for three years.  However, lately even that is not enough.  If CoH were to come back tomorrow, goodbye SWTOR, hello Paragon City!
What was no more, is now reborn!

WORD!
It takes a village to raise a child. And it takes a villain to explain the value of lunch money.

Amen, if City of heroes was back tommorow, goodbye Millenium City(and it's trolls and nerf-head scrubs), and hello Paragon City.
Edit: To take it further.
Goodbye two-gun mojo boring spam, hello energy blasts.
Goodbye needing to use, um, a trick to outdamage the above, hello fire blasts.
Goodbye enforced holy trinity, hello time manipulation for real.
Goodbye underpowered PFF, you always sucked, hello force fields, you always ruled.
Goodbye Lightning Reflexes, you always sucked only partly dodging half attacks, hello super reflexes that actually work.
Goodbye regeneration and "invulnerability", hello city of heroes invulnerability, regeneration, and WILLPOWER.
Goodbye defiance, because I also have electrical armor.

Goodbye useless active offenses, I get to take real damage abilities like build up.
Goodbye slow superspeed, I get a 100mph super speed instead of a weak 70 mph.
But ultimately...
Goodbye utter lack of a pet class, hello Masterminds and....
Goodbye utter lack of real crowd control and lack of solid buffs/debuffs, and hello all the buff and debuff sets and I most certainly miss storm summoning.  And as mentioned time manipulation.

ive had enough of swtors horrible design, horrible quality control, horrible customer service. their community team is currently hiding from their customers because of horrible management decisions. the star wars IP is keeping them alive and will continue to do so. because its star wars. I have gone to wow until I hear something about coh.

Was just playing swtor wondering if anyone has stats on the amount of time spent in transit vs the amount of time actually playing. google didn't know but i'd believe anything up to 85% transit. soon as i finish all the class stories i'm out whether coh is back or not.

I'd have included the recent stupidity that they were doing but that has little to do with gameplay :P.  So wish we had thumbs up here to.

I've stopped doing even that.  My biggest flaw was always making a good costume for my characters, so any benefit Icon provides me is strictly related to revisiting the City/Isles.  Even given the luxury of unlimited time I still can't make a good costume.  Fortunate I wasn't a clothes designer deep down, else I'd be screwed!

As far as Mids goes, most of my CoX experience lies in the pre-IO timeframe, and admittedly my time playing post-IO wasn't all that encompassing.  I played, sure (and quite a bit) but never at the level(s) where having a full IO loadout was worth it.  Mids is a nice tool, but when one doesn't have a basis on how said char actually plays Mids isn't really all that useful.  Sure, numbers are nice and all, but real gameplay experience trumps raw non-gameplay-experience numbers any day of the week.  I've never played with a full, softcap 35% S/L/etc defense toon before.  I know what the numbers tell me, but never having played that I don't know just how important that is in terms of feel.  Is it worth it to go that full mile, or is 30% good enough for my intentions, and using that extra 5% I wasn't trying to shoe-horn in and can now spend in other areas more beneficial?  Mids is a great tool, but like all tools, it's at its most powerful in the hands of those who know how to wield it, which I'll readily admit am not - and without the game being active and thus I can gleam "real-world" experience, will never be.
Full softcap is worlds away from "some defense". Like, the last 5% of defense improves your survivability by literally as much as the first 40%. Either plan to be at the soft cap, with or without inspirations/temps/external buffs, or don't really bother with adding defense becaue it's not going to do much. Also, if you're planning much more than S/L, and your powersets don't have typed (s/l/e/n/f/c) defense built in, seriously consider a positional softcap (Melee/ranged/AoE). You need to do all three to reap the benefits, but it's actually easier and was cheaper than doing all the types, plus you have a defense against pure toxic and most pure psy attacks. I did it on a Fire/Fire tanker, and against anything but Carnies, x8 was a cakewalk. (Carnie Illusionists have a ranged Hold that has no Ranged tag, so you needed Break Frees ready not to detoggle and die)

I have 24 55+ toons in swtor. I have cancelled my account there and wont be back unless there are major changes in the leadership there
