How do you change the brightness and darkness of maps/npcs?

Two of city of heroes artistic flaws were the limit to really push away fog or turn it off (without accesslevel 9 clearance) and dynamic map and character lightning.

Some zones in city of heroes are either too dark or too bright as a result of this dynamic lightning and some costumes look nearly black. Indoor maps are especially where this problem persists and changing the time of the day does nothing to solve this problem.

I remember this question being answered somewhere but I can't find it using the search function.

Under Graphics, you can alter the Bloom Amount. It'll be under Advanced Graphics Settings. That will only darken or light up the world a little though. To really see a change you'll have to alter the Gamma. It'll also be under Graphics, and it should be under the first section, also titled Graphics. The problem is that if you take screenshots, the effects won't be captured in them. It's still handy for actual gameplay though.

Hope that helped somewhat.

You mean something beyond the Gamma setting in the "Options" menu?

Yes as you can see in some zones like the new dark astoria and during events like the rikti and zombie invasions the lightning for the zone changes zone wide on buildings. And then some maps are just really freaking dark... It makes for a bad recording when many of the characters costume parts look really dark or black.

Changing things in the options doesn't solve this issue.
