I'd love to see which power set and strategy works the best solo. Lots of people group up and power through content, which I can't even argue with it makes more sense than doing it solo. However as someone who mainly solo'd, obviously tf's and such I did not, if someone set up a twitch stream soloing to 50 as fast as possible by any means I'd love to see it. I mean I got 1-50 in like 4 days solo but that was using inf/IO's from other characters and running my AE mission over and over. Without the ability to buy inps and all that jazz I'm going to be lost as to how to do this.

My game plan thus far is as follows:

1.) Make a ss/fire.

2.) Get burn.

3.) Beg for a /kin of any kind to tag along.

4.) Find a very dark corner in a large room and cry until I become dehydrated, at which point I will drink as much water as possible in order to continue crying.

Bullet proof.

Im going to get there with an ice/time troller (you heard me xD) I think my game plan is good enough (atleast in my head to get to lvl 50 within 48-72 hours of gameplay (if all the variable in my mind do go in my favor)

Well, if we're going to toss out server names, I might as well chime in with onethat seems appropriate if we get CoH back- Invictus.

My home server was Triumph for the same reason I think lots of other Triumph players ended up on Triumph: It was at the top of the server list.

Thats no way to pick a server.  And how do you pick between "Infinity" and "Pinnacle?"  I've put a lot of thought into this, and I think we should name our servers after the seven dwarfs.

No, really.  Each server would be specifically targeted at a different segment of the player population.

Sleepy - this would be the server for players that always seem to be logging in at off times when no one else was on, like Australians and insomniacs
Bashful - soloers, obviously.
Dopey - New players, players who can only chat in leet-speak, and tankers allergic to status protection toggles.
Doc - the "everyone must have a heal, even blasters" server.
Grumpy - the open PvP everywhere, but with post I13 PvP rules server
Sneezy - the always AFK because sick/bathroom-break/walk-dog/mailman/telephone/time-to-take-medication-to-stop-voices-in-head server
Happy - the I love iTrials/Dr Quaterfield/Hamidon/MSR/TinMage/Empath/Master Badge/SSA/WSF/Hammers-to-the-face/BeingVengeanceDoll server.

What's funny about that article is that it's based on a wrong assumption. The maps in COH may have looked like they were procedurally generated, since many consisted of the same building blocks being slapped together in different orders, but they were not. All of the different variations are fully realized map files, so whether the process was tool assisted or not, some map designer had to assemble and save each one.
This is something I didn't know until I started playing around with Titan Icon and looking at the map lists.  I had always assumed that they were just randomly generated on the fly, but then I realized that while they used common component pieces, some developer somewhere saved those variations as individual maps and then the mission instances picked one appropriate for the mission at random.

Old quotes from players I remembered was:

Shortman: "Triumph: The first server I clicked on"

Crockp0t: "Triumph, the server named after an insult comic dog"

Karl Rove Man: "Triumph, I clicked this server without my pants on"

If I was of a mind to race to 50:

Plan A would be to hack admin on the server and levelup_xp 50.  That will get you from level 1 to level 50 in about two seconds.

Plan B would be to see if the Architect was functioning, and go Claws/Fire Brute.  That'll get you there in a day.

Plan C would be to go Fire/Kin controller, and farm to 50.  That will take a weekend, assuming I don't shoot myself first.

I doubt I would do it though: I've done it often enough to know I can, and I know there's no there, there (I would often do it on beta to test certain things at high levels, leveling some faster, and some slower).

For most players, it was "Triumph: I clicked this server without my pants on."  But I can actually see Karl Rove Man announcing server-wide: "Triumph, I clicked this server without my pants on" while referring to any server.

I was in Faultline when someone was making adjustments to the map. It was interesting to see disembodied names and a gradually rotating, self-relocating immobile delivery truck. Pretty sure whoever it was, was disguised as a police drone.

If there's a server called Spoon, I'm on that one.

And be forever flagged in the database as a cheater?

True, most people would never know... but it would still bug me a little.

Better hack the db too I guess.

You almost sound serious.
I'm not sure if it's funny, sad, or great, that these option are still better than some I've seen thrown around.
Or all three.

It takes a village to raise a child. And it takes a villain to explain the value of lunch money.

I would think that Dopey would be for those that have to have Speed Boost to play.

Yeah, each map was handcrafted and if the connection between two sections was even slightly off the map could glitch in various interesting ways. The most common i recall "seeing" was passing through a wall of absolute blackness when moving between sections. Slight mismatches in room altitude could sometimes result in plunging into the abyss. Of course slightly misplaced doors could result in the same or being stuck in geometry where sometimes even /stuck didn't help.

The maps added in the last couple of years generally made more sense in terms of almost being a somewhat plausible floor plan compared to the older maps where many made no sense at all from an ergonomic or traffic flow perspective to the point that the only thing that said "office" vs "warehouse" vs "laboratory" was the decor; the layouts themselves resembled the randomly generated dungeons from AD&D where you generated the maps by rolling dice for each door and corridor section endpoint and adding whatever room was indicated on the table.
So far so good. Onward and upward!
