No, what we are saying (do try to actually listen), is that, yes, we'd love to have our characters (and loot) back as well.  But if that's not on the table, getting the game without them is better than not getting the game back at all.
Sounds like my view so we're on the same page.  (except I never insult people who feel more strongly about their characters)

Remember, the COX forums got pretty nasty at the end too.

Until something concrete was said, everyone could pin all their hopes on the future. Now that people know what the deal actually is (as it stands now) there are going to be people who can't help but be bitter over what they've lost.
The negative language just keeps a-comin.

Also the question for me is maintenance mode and how it connects to APR.. if I invest that time effort an energy all over again.. does that mean those things will be ported over into APR should APR be successful... does APR then become CoH ??

How long will maintenance mode last ?? will that too be eventually shut down.. will I have to start all over yet again ??

These are some of my questions..
At least two people in some form of "in the know" in the other thread stated that keeping the I23 CoH going is very important.   So staying with that could be a very good option.

Thank you.

The https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRTkCHE1sS4 needs to stop.
I don't suppose you think this kind of post should stop?

I'll never quite fully understand the (Frankly) stupid mindset of "No characters? This game is gonna suck then!"

Yeah, sure the characters will be missed and all, but the audacity of going "THIS SUCKS! THIS GAME ISN'T WORTH MY TIME" is just laughable. As opposed to what? Not having the character at all. You know, because the game won't be online

It's not like it takes just a week of try-harding to reach 50, or anything like that.

Never gonna happen but, for me, pre-issue 6 would be a beautiful thing.
If I was a Jedi, there's a 100% chance that I'd use The Force inappropriately.

Curious, why pre-I6?

I'm curious too. I joined around i11/i12 so I can't say I ever got to experience it.

More than likely pre ED (enchantment diversification). It was created by Jack to prevent people from just slotting all dmg. I may be in the minority but I did like ED. Makes you think how to manage your resources (especially with the introduction of IO) instead of just 6 slotting Dmg. Although it was funny as hell to play a ice/em blaster and snipe people in pvp with bitter ice blast with boost range 5 stacked doing 1k+ dmg xD

I was a big fan of ED. Not... immediately, but in the long run.

Outside of pvp, in pve it was pretty ridiculous. Made you feel like a super hero on crank, and made the game so easy.

Kistulot

I'd say the only issue with ED was it being a thing pre IOs. If they'd been released at the same time, I daresay the reaction would have been far more positive. Having only Hami-Os to play with in addition to SOs after the "nerf" that was ED... I can appreciate being upset.

Much as I hate to agree with something that Jack did......I have to agree that pre-ED the game was a bit too easy.

No, the major problem where wasn't so much the massive nerf involved (though that upset plenty), it was how it was handled, and more specifically, it was Jack's attitude towards the players... Especially with the rapidly broken promise of "No more significant power changes".

I've never seen one man able to piss off so many people so fast...

Although you must keep in mind the mindset of a game designer: powers are a different system than enhancements. So he was technically right, in that powers did not change at all with ED.

Jack had some terrible gameplay ideas, but he did have a huge hand in the repeated mistakes that lead to our awesome game, so I give him a little slack on it. He also had really terrible foot-in-mouth disease, and had no idea how to handle PR or the player base, and didn't think about future consequences when linking one item/change/update to future items/changes/updates (at least when communicating with the players).

Speaking of Jack's foot in his mouth, wasn't it Jack that triggered the global nerf of powers in CO when it went live?  I remember some serious flak over that

Oh, I'll be forever grateful to him for creating CoH in the first place, but at the end of the day, the guy was a nozzle.

This....I.... I'm not sure I've heard of someone referring to someone else as a "Nozzle" before.
xD

I have certain feelings one way or the other about Jack Emmett, however I feel It would be best if I kept the specifics of said opinion to myself.

That said, it always bugged me that a lot of the other super vets condemned Statesman (the character) because of his connection to Jack.

I condemned Statesman because he was a condescending asshole, not because he was Jack's character (although part of the problem was his Gary Stu-ness - he was Jack's 'baby' from before the game existed, just like Positron was Matt Miller's).
