Why would you blame the new owners? They are getting the game back online. If account information is not there and the game is up, what difference dose it make. I ratter have the ability to play the game, then be mad and not play the game.

I would blame the new owners since NCSoft HAS the account information, and they either didn't want/ask for it. I think it should be part of the deal for CoX. And would give the vets more reason to return. As far as NCSoft goes, transferring that information would be a show of respect to those who paid for the game in the past, and would go a long way to repairing their reputation with the old players. So it's a win-win scenario. If it's not done, it's both sides fault.
My Reality:
#1 I love my wife!
#2 I miss CoX!
#3 Refer to rule #1!
#4 I seem to have an itch!

Even if NCSoft add 10 million to the price tag for the account data and the new buyers aren't prepared to pay that much?
The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.* FFM: I think you're mostly wise in this instance, apart from one part.

Well, first, NCSoft cant provide something that doesnt exist. It could be that said account data is either no longer there or incomplete.  Second, an argument could be made that they have zero business interest in providing a new company the account info - specifically emails, CC info, etc.

This mindset I don't understand in any way. The new owners have no power over what NCSoft provides. If NCSoft says we will only give you this for your money - then that is it.

How you could blame a new group for anything at this point is absolutely beyond comprehension.

They are spending considerable time and effort to get the game back - FOR YOU. I already said to the new Devs that people will be second guessing you and criticizing you on day one, right after they say - hey we got the the game! People will say well what took so long? What are you going to do? When are you going to nerf this power it is OP and so on..................

Be happy that someone loved this game enough to fight to try and get it so that you can have your home back. I am sorry but your statement is absurd. Please think things through.

There is an unrealistic sense of entitlement that seems to be running rampant. Folks paid for a service and the service was rendered. We own nothing.

Cryptic being in the deal ... it makes sense, and Ill be happy as hell to see CoH return; but Jack Emmert ... Mr. "no reason for crafting in a Supers MMO."  If Positron was running the show and Jack was off doing something else entirely, that would be great.  I dunno, after CoH I've not thought much of their games, so Id be a little worried about them developing CoH2.

But here was go again, beggars cant be choosers.  Hell if they relaunched the thing with Issue 1 Id still buy it and play.

I would blame the new owners

And thus your opinion means nothing.

Talk about ungrateful. This mindset annoys me to no end.

I'm wishing the best for your family. I can only imagine the pressure you received from others wanting information. It doesn't impress me at all that someone would badger someone until they get  what they want. While typically this type of news  ( "The Announcement") would be something to to look forward to the way in which it was obtained and presented seems to be Self Glorification.

It is not a win-win scenario. Art of negotiation would to get what you need for the lowest price and don't give the other party ammo to have a REASON to withdraw. Ok, say the deal is going through, and they have the game in their hands. They settle for a price on just the basic of the game (the game itself nothing more.) Say that price is for 1 million (making up hypothetical numbers) If what you want to happen went down, this would have been the likely outcome

New Owners: "oh can you also include the old information"
NC Soft: "sure for another million we will"

One of two things will happen here because the new owners gave NC Soft a new opening

Scenario 1
New Owners: "how about we get that info $200,000"
NC Soft: "nope"
New Owners: "ok, forget about that then"
NC Soft will see they have more money to play with than stated will then say: "you know we just realize how valuable this franchise is we are asking for 1.5 million"

Negotiation will proceed AGAIN and either they will pay the higher price and have less resources to spend on getting the game up or the new owners will just walk away

Scenario 2
New Owners: "oh its ok we will go with the original deal"
NC Soft will see they will have a problem with capital and will be hesitant to sell the franchise: "after consideration, we withdraw the deal"

Data can be restored and all it cost is sentimental value (which usually has no price.) You need to think about it logically, think of this in a business sense, negotiation sense, and get the bare minimum and start anew. So no just posing the question is NOT a win-win

Iron wolf dogged this when all else failed:  thank you

Two years later some one cared to invest time and effort to untangle this awful mess of legal and technical issues.  Whoever that is : thank you.

Ncsoft is not required to do anything, much less entertain this conversation.  Thank you for whatever can be recovered.

Gratitude is spelled:  t-h-a-n-k-y-o-u.

May we all see each other in-game in the not too distant future.

In that scenario, I'd rather see that money used to ensure the future of the game. If they get to the point where the game is rock solid for the foreseeable future and have extra cash to throw around, that would be a different story.

PAULY SHORE IS BUYING CITY OF HEROES!!??

;)

No.... I believe that Aggelakis been hinting at the buyer's name for a long time.  In the footer of all Aggelakis's messages, the same name keeps showing up.  Could the buyer be... Bob Dole!?!

Bob Dole: a man of many talents.  He used to show up in television commercials.    And, and... He did television commercials... And I vaguely remembered that he may had run for the the office of the US President.... Nah.... He did commercials.

So could Bob Dole be one the buyer? IS he one of the Devs?  Does he still do commercials???

Agreed!!

How can you blame this company for anything that NCsoft controls? I am grateful to know that we may have a chance to fly again. Two years ago on Aug 31 (my Birthday) we received horrible news. Worst birthday ever. It was like being kicked in the gut. NCsoft thought we would lose interests and go away, but here we are, on the verge of winning the war and we have people complaining? If you fill that strongly about the account information I see you have two choices (1) don't play (2) fork out the money and buy it from NCsoft. I for one am looking forward to once again lacing up my boots, and taking that first flight up to the globe in AP.

Who every is trying to buy this game THANK YOU.

That's if they even have the data no one knows 100% sure what they have and do not have

I was a paying player for 2 accounts since 2004.  If we have to start from scratch, all I need to know is where do I send my payment.

I'm well aware you think that should be part of the deal (You've stated your opinion on this subject  in about 70% of your 40+ posts)...but as you can see most people couldn't care less what we are given back as long as we get CoH back.

You obviously have no idea how a corporate acquisition like this works...and thankfully you are not at the bartering table representing the community. Legally NCSoft had NO obligation to keep our account information...so no there is no guarantee that the data even exists. Placing blame on the Neo-Devs if the data is not there/returned/part of the deal shows a complete lack of insight into the situation. So while you continue to piss and moan about this subject...most of us will sit and wait for an announcement of what is to come; and be grateful to the new team for achieving something that no one else has been able to do for almost 2 years.

How miserably ungrateful.  Getting CoH back would be a miracle dropped in our laps, but if it's not gift-wrapped with a cherry on top, you're pitching a fit?  Show some gratitude that's it's even gotten this far.
