Yeah or awesome hero on hero action.

I tried pvp in a lot of games for me people chose what I call broken powers, than when I find a way to beat them one on one they cry until either they leave or I leave.

I have tried pvp, there are those who pick the broken powers, than after getting lucky or a good strong last hit, they would cry until either they left or I left.
One day the Phoenix will rise again.

Firstly, a bull in a china shop is actually a very graceful display, watch mythbusters.  In fact the animals try to avoid everything while moving fast enough that it's almost like watching a bovine ballet dancer in action.

Oh one person on the save city of heroes page was trying to say indirectly it was ok to spam ncsoft and that spamming them wasn't what caused the last deal to fail.  The person was being about as thick skulled as it gets.  Like she had no capability to think about how her words affect anything nore had any political smarts(talking about the general social environment, not national politics).

Never understood when people call effective powers in PvP broken. The powers that are seem as broken are just powers that have been tested and proven effective in pvp (dueling or team fights). Well atleast that was the case prior to Castle's PvP turn in a generic mush of fite klub

Quote from: Waffles on August 23, 2014, 08:38:51 PMOn the topic of knockback, it's a shame they never made an ability that knocked all effected targets in an area towards the center on the ability (Like a singularity of sorts. Not the Grav pet.)
Well such an ability did not exist in the game engine until Issue 24, when an effect called forcemove was being added. Knockback and repel could only push away from the source of the effect and making the magnitude negative did not reverse the direction. Which is where forcemove would've come in since it could've been used to force entities to move towards a specific point instead of just away.
Of course since the game will be reimplemented in a new engine as CoH2 if the deal goes through instead of continuing development on the old engine the i24 addition of forcemove is a moot point since no player abilities incorporating it had been created yet.
So far so good. Onward and upward!

I had a rule when I played on my Eng/Eng blaster - I f I knock it back I will kill it.

I agree with this statement!  With my claws/sr scrapper I used to jump in first and agro everyone with a combination of energy torrent and shockwave.  Then I proceeded to kill (arrest) everything as fast as I could.  Or is that not what you meant :)

Don't expect me to bother inviting you in any of my teams then if your going full blown knockback phobia on me.

Edit: Thing is that motion sickness I bet isn't even real motion sickness, just intollerance at the mere presence of knockback(in other words, you get mad just seeing it no matter what).  I'd seen it before many, many times, even when i'm not knocking aggressively at all(energy blast the ST attacks were often more damaging overall, and if I did knock something it was into walls, or the team had enough damage the knockback didn't matter because I was fulcrum shifting everything in sight).  Just one guy getting knocked and boom, they start complaining.

Another Edit: I get just as bothered by the blaster who thinks the world centers around him.

Having to stop watching the screen to avoid throwing up over my KB and having a thumping headache is not simply getting mad, I had a similar problem with being in the hurricane graphics (even with no foes about, not a KB issue) till they toned them down slightly. ST KB didn't bother me anything like as much as a fair bit of the time it wouldn't be on my target.

Btw I had a PB, a stormie and an NRG/NRG so I wasn't KB phobic, but I was probably one of the more considerate KB users. My issue with NRG/NRGs was that the torrent didn't actually do much damage and tended to push badguys out of more damage than it caused unless the blaster was prepared to move first to knock them into a wall.

Evening folks, new guy here.  Joined CoH right after Issue 2 and stayed with it to the end with a few hiatus here and there.

I'm very excited to hear about what's going on with NCSoft negotiations right now.  My wife is chagrined at the prospect of becoming a CoH widow again.

I've been trying to follow the discussions for the last 50 pages or so, so I don't know if this was mentioned, has anyone heard from the City of Titans/Missing Worlds Media about how they are adapting to this turn of events, or if they have changed their activities, placed their plans on hold?

Edit: 50 pages, not 5

You've got to get your wife to play this time if CoH does manage to actually get resurrected.  That will solve your problem!   ;)

MWM has said from the very beginning even if CoH returned they would still work on developing a game.. so has VO.. bottom line.. there a gajillion fantasy genre games.. and kill a zombie games.. and shoot a guy with a gun via first person games.. and they all get made...

Why is it that we can only have ONE super her based game..

They should continue even if CoH comes back in full force, on fire, with rainbows and unicorns flying out of its butt..

She used to play the game.  She thinks devs made the game too easy by appeasing the whiners when they complained that they couldn't easily get a certain badge or solo a certain mission.

If I can get her account back though, I won't hesitate to start working on some new toons for our son.  Almost 4 years old and a big Iron Man / Batman / Captain America / Spiderman fan.  And if we don't get the accounts back, I'll start work on recreating her best toons and some new guys for my kid :)

Fair enough, but if the idea is to bring back players to prep them for a COX2 sequel, that could be stretching the available player base out a bit.  Granted, if done right a lot of people from CO and DC could be brought over to both new games.

But really there is ONLY one super hero based game and that's CoH.  The rest are "sub par hero" based games.

Forcemove was far from being useful for such things, and IMO probably would have been scrapped after the first attempt to use it in an actual power. Don't let the name fool you -- all it did was instruct the AI to walk to the forced location, and for players actually sent a message to the client instructing it to lock autofollow on that location, in exactly the way that the click-to-move functionality worked.

About the only thing it could conceivably be useful for is, combined with a movement speed buff, a 'charge' style power. Even that would probably end up looking weird and require reimplementation another way. Biggest problem with doing a charge power that way is there's no way to accurately predict how long it will take to reach the target, so the speed buff would end up lasting too long or too short.

Ignoring forcemove entirely, inverse knockback / attraction is something that wasn't implemented in the engine, but would be trivial to do so, assuming the code was available. I think it's far more likely that if this effort succeeds, it will be maintenance mode only, so I wouldn't expect to see such mechanics on the official servers.

Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.
